Today Jauz has announced he is stepping away from the project for the foreseeable future. The American talent seems to be done with the project, and potentially moving into a different alias or to work behind the scenes. This news marks a seismic shift for the electronic music landscape, as Sam Vogel has been a mainstay of the touring circuit and a consistent innovator for over ten years.
Jauz pioneered the bass house genre and is behind some of the biggest records of it. After a decade of playing and making music, Jauz has created a notable fanbase and discography – so to be stepping away from the project, there is a serious reason. Since his breakout in the mid-2010s, he has bridged the gap between heavy dubstep and infectious house grooves, leaving an indelible mark on festivals from Coachella to Tomorrowland.
In the post, he announced a “proper retrospective” extended set at Academy in Los Angeles this weekend. He described LA “as the city that made all my wildest dreams a reality”. This homecoming performance is expected to be an emotional milestone for the producer, serving as both a celebration of his achievements and a final salute to the community that fostered his growth.
He said the show would be “a truly extended set for my day ones and OG sharksquad, featuring the records that shaped my career from 2014 all the way to today”. While the future of his musical output remains shrouded in mystery, this final performance at Academy offers fans a chance to witness the evolution of a sound that defined a generation of dance music.
