Joe Exotic: Tiger King Podcast

As the internet has exploded thanks to Netflix’s documentary series by the same name, Joe “Exotic” Shreibvogel, the Tiger King makes a splash in a new format this week thanks to Wondery. If you hadn’t yet discovered Joe, you’ll soon find out he undoubtedly does everything over the top. He loves big cats and has devoted his life to raising and breeding lions, tigers, and other exotic animals at his Oklahoma zoo. However aside from his 200+ animals, he also ran for both President and Governor of Oklahoma. The iconic figure croons ballads, shoots guns, and puts it all on YouTube.

However, while that already sounds like a wacky story it’s only scratching the surface, as, throughout his career, he’s made a lot of enemies. And the biggest of all is the owner of a big cat sanctuary in Florida named Carole Baskin. The now infamous feud between Joe and Carole gets messy, vicious, and outrageous — until both of them are pushed far beyond their limits. From Wondery, “Joe Exotic” is reported and hosted by Rob Moor.

In the new podcast series, we hear exclusive recordings, originally documented in 2015 when Moor went to visit the GW Sanctuary and spent a few days with Joe Exotic, among the shows we hear untold stories about Joe’s ex-husband which we didn’t learn about in the Netflix series. Meanwhile, the show also features interviews with his arch-nemesis Carole Baskin and also documents some of the unusual circumstances around her ex-husband’s disappearance.
