‘The Bear’ Returns This June Following Surprise ‘Gary’ Special

Disney+ / Hulu has confirmed that the fifth and final season of FX’s ‘The Bear’ will arrive on Thursday, June 26, with all eight episodes dropping at once. While the new key art signals the beginning of the end for the Berzatto crew, the announcement follows the unexpected arrival of ‘Gary’, a standalone flashback episode available to stream now.

Before the final chapter begins, fans can dive into a surprise detour titled ‘Gary’. Co-written by and starring Ebon Moss-Bachrach alongside Jon Bernthal, this special episode takes viewers back in time to follow Richie and Mikey on a chaotic work trip to Gary, Indiana. It provides a rare, intimate look at the bond between the two before the events of the pilot. To find the special, users simply need to search for ‘Gary’ directly on the Disney+ / Hulu platform.

The upcoming season picks up in the immediate, high-stakes aftermath of Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) quitting the industry. Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie, and Natalie (Abby Elliott) are left to navigate the restaurant’s future amidst a financial crisis and an impending storm. As the team pushes for a final Michelin star, the series concludes by exploring whether the heart of a restaurant lies in its menu or its staff.

Alongside the core cast, the final season features Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Matty Matheson, with recurring appearances from Jamie Lee Curtis, Will Poulter, Oliver Platt, and Ricky Staffieri. The series is created by Christopher Storer and produced by FX Productions.
