Tomorrowland have confirmed they will continue the festival this weekend and next, following a fire that took out the mainstage of the festival.
In the afternoon, a fire broke out at the mainstage, eventually engulfing the majority of the stage. At this point, the stage seems completely lost. It is not yet clear what started the fire, but many seem to think fireworks my be at fault.
“The main stage was destroyed,” says Debby of Tomorrowland. There are no casualties. Everyone is safe, she stresses. “The priority was to get everyone safe, the further course of the festival will be for tomorrow.” Staff did not have to evacuate. Dreamville guests who were scheduled to arrive at the campground tomorrow will be able to arrive as normal.

“Mainstage destroyed, but Tomorrowland continues”
A fire broke out on the grounds, and the main stage there was destroyed. “This is terrible, that is a stage that was worked on for years with a lot of love and passion,” said Debby. Especially the production team who “gave their heart and soul” to put the stage down will be heartbroken, she says. Tomorrow they will continue preparations for the festival, which does go on.
“We don’t know yet what happened,” says François van den Eynde of the Rivierenland fire district. “But it’s clear that the fire spread very quickly. That, of course, has to do with the materials used.”
“We tried to extinguish the fire, but as soon as you notice it’s not working, you have to limit the damage to the rest of the festival grounds. And that’s what we did. Everything is under control.”The fire department will work with the organizers to determine how the festival can proceed at the site of the main stage.
