Asia’s Largest Electronic Music Conference & Festival, Wired Music Week (WMW) based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will make the iconic resort world of Zouk Genting an electronic playground from 12th to 15th March. The conference which is now its in its third year will bring a roster of acclaimed music industry giants such as Markus Schulz, Laidback Luke, Arkham Knights and some of the regions brightest industry minds.
Today WMW revealed that this years edition will be centred around the theme of Sustainability of a career within the global electronic music industry. Among the key industry, panels will be revered minds such as 1001tracklists CMO Jacob Merlin, China-based Liquid State‘s Head Of A&R, Robin Leembruggen, and Monstercat‘s APAC Brand Manager Stephen Dowler.
Over the three-day conference panels will explore the topics such as the evolving role of Radio In A Streaming Age, the current landscape of music events across the globe and where it is heading as well as unique debate panels with topics such as Music Sustainability: Label Deals vs. Independent Releases, to show talents some of the different pathways and demonstrate how to thrive as an artist.
In addition to the standard programming, WMW will introduce it’s brand new pillar Wired Black, centred firmly on the underground electronic music movement. The Black series will feature some of the top event promoters from the region including Zouk Singapore‘s Wayne Lee and Collective Minds co-founder Zaran Vachha.
Meanwhile Wired Black will explore topics relating to growing the underground scene such as Young & Thirsty: The Art of Moving The Young Over To The Underground in addition to an in-depth look into the trajectory for aspiring independent musicians with From Nothing To Something Big: From Bedroom DJs to Warehouse Parties.
WMW also introduces Connect: China for its 2020 edition, a platform created in collaboration with Chinese Electronic Music Pioneer, Paul Neuteboom (CEO, BrotherHood Music, China) which will seek to form a bridge between the wider Asian region and the Chinese electronic music industry. Removing the mystery around some of the industries biggest struggles with panels such as Streaming Music Within The Great Firewall and China, featuring the likes of David Luce, founder of Shanghai-based event and promotion company SHFT, and touring giant David Lewis‘ Asia-Pacific Managing Director Erik Leenders.
WMW’s workshops will also give attendees the opportunity to learn from the best including key players in the global industry such as DJ and music producer Laidback Luke, who will lead a workshop on The Power of Creative DJing. Meanwhile, music industry AI experts, Musiio, will be leading the workshop, AI & The Future of Music Search For DJs and Dutch recording label, Revealed Recordings, will be presenting two workshops: Social Advertising For Artists and How To Get Signed By Record Label.
Of course, while there is much to learn at WMW an electronic music conference wouldn’t be complete without all-night-long afterparties. So attendees can expect to see the dancefloors of Zouk Genting ablaze with a lineup of DJ acts that include the likes of Markus Schulz, Arkham Knights and many more to be announced.
