The kings of Korean hip-hop, H1GHR music have combined all their artists for a highly anticipated two-part compilation series, the first of which arrived today worldwide titled ‘Red Tape’. The compilation album features 14 tracks and will no doubt see a number of charting hits in coming weeks. Among the tracklist are artist such as Jay Park, Sik-K, Ted Park, Golden, HAON, Woodie Gochild, TRADE L, pH-1, Ourealgoat and BIG-naughty.
The intro track title ‘H1GHR’ comes in from Jay Park in collaboration with Golden, it’s a softer English-lyric track which shows off their immaculate vocal abilities and shouts out their roster, it is laced with a background choir and silky beats which reminds a little of Kanye West. Another English highlight is ‘How We Rock’ from Jay Park, pH-1, BIG Naughty, TRADE L, HAON and Woodie Gochild, which is one of many star-packed anthems on Red Tape that packs a punch. The rest of the album is mostly in Korean with the exception of verses on ‘4eva’, ‘No Rush’ and rising US-based Ted Park with his recently released remix with ‘Dance Like Jay’ with Jay Park and Parlay Pass.
However, no matter what language each of the Red Tape: H1GHER tracks is in, their undeniably infectious raps are pleasing to the ear and underpinned with ultra-high quality productions which have come in from esteemed producers such as Groovy Room, SMMT, Sik-K, BOY COLD, Adam King Feeney, Woogie, DJ Wegun, GRAY, DAX, Crookid, Bronze, GXXD and GooseBumps.
In addition to the compilation drop we have recieved a music video for ‘The Purge’ which comes from Jay Park, pH-1, BIG Naughty, Woodie Gochild, HAON, TRADE L, Sik-K. In the anarchic video set across the city, we see the artists taking control, just as they are of the Korean Hip hop scene. The video will set you on beast mode as it transitions between scenes of chaos.
The concept teaser photos which were released prior to the drop included photos of each artist of the label that will be participating in this compilation album, illustrating the ‘Red Tape: H1GHR‘ concept, all photos are wrapped in a captivating red filter. H1GHR Music Records will drop the second compilation album ‘Blue Tape: H1GHR‘ later in the month.
