John Summit Continues World Domination With Latest Album ‘CTRL ESCAPE’

The wait is finally over as global music sensation John Summit officially unveils his highly anticipated new album, ‘CTRL ESCAPE’, out today via Experts Only and Darkroom Records. Arriving on 15 April, otherwise known as Tax Day, the project serves as a full-circle moment for the Chicago native, sonically tracing his transformation from a CPA to a global dance music powerhouse.

Building on the themes of his debut album, ‘Comfort in Chaos’, this new body of work reframes the duality of the human experience through a different lens: the clash between 9-5 monotony and the electric release of the rave.

‘CTRL ESCAPE’ finds John Summit leaning into a more accessible sound, clearly aiming for a broader commercial reach than his debut. While ‘Comfort In Chaos’ felt like a project where every track was essential and deeply rooted in a love for dance music, this new LP prioritises high-energy, infectious appeal via collaborations with acts such as The Chainsmokers and Feid. Some of the records here may not carry the same lasting weight as his earlier work.

The production quality remains top-tier, and Summit’s willingness to experiment with different genres continues to be impressive. However, there are fewer moments that feel truly exceptional or destined for the same ‘all-time’ lists that his first album garnered. It is a very solid outing that many Summit and dance fans will thoroughly enjoy, even if it feels slightly less definitive than the standard he set with his debut.

Summit says of CTRL ESCAPE: “​​The album is about escaping the control of corporate life,” Summit explains. “But also about not being pigeonholed with a specific sound. The whole point of being an artist is being able to express myself in any single way. The overall concept of the album relates to not just breaking out of, literally, my corporate job, but also as an artist, being able to break free and do whatever the hell I want.”
