NYLON has officially entered the electronic music space with the debut of its ‘NYLON House Dance 100’ list. This new annual ranking aims to identify the most influential figures in global dance music culture. American DJ John Summit has been named the top artist for 2026, appearing as the cover star for the publication’s first dedicated dance issue.
The list serves as a primary feature for NYLON House, a new editorial vertical focused on nightlife and electronic music. According to BDG CEO Bryan Goldberg, the move reflects the growing influence of dance music on fashion and youth culture. To mark the launch, a special print edition of the list will be distributed during Miami Music Week, a major fixture in the American music calendar.
Taking the No. 1 spot, John Summit is highlighted by the publication as a ‘Marathon Man’ for his prolific touring schedule and high-energy performances. A Chicago native now based in Miami, Summit’s rise has been bolstered by a massive social media presence and his ‘Experts Only’ label and event brand. His ranking follows a significant year of growth, including the announcement of his sophomore album, CTRL ESCAPE, and a scheduled 21 hour takeover of Miami’s Club Space.
Unlike many rankings that rely on public popularity contests, this list was curated through an industry-led judging process. The panel consisted of more than sixty professionals, including promoters, agents, label executives, venue operators, and media leaders. While the publication describes the panel as representing the global ecosystem, the selection process maintained a heavy focus on the United States industry landscape. This American centric perspective was reflected in both the judging panel and the featured artists.
Judges moved away from algorithmic data, instead scoring artists on a scale of 1 to 10 across several qualitative and quantitative categories. The final rankings were determined by evaluating market impact, streaming performance, audience engagement, and live presence. They also weighed cultural influence, virality, artistic innovation, and professional reputation.
The editorial team noted that while the list prioritises current impact, judges were encouraged to nominate underrepresented artists to ensure a broader reflection of the genre across various career stages.
