Spotify has officially reached its 20th anniversary, marking two decades since its 2006 launch in Sweden. To celebrate the milestone, the streaming giant has released its first-ever comprehensive rankings of the most-streamed music, podcasts, and audiobooks in the history of the platform.
The data, current as of April 2026, confirms Taylor Swift as the most-streamed artist of all time globally. This achievement follows a historic year for the singer, whose 2025 album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ was the best-selling record worldwide. Swift leads a top three that includes Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny at number two and Drake at number three.
While Swift holds the top artist spot, the individual track and album honours belong to others. The Weeknd claims the title for the most-streamed song in Spotify history with ‘Blinding Lights’, which has amassed over 5.3 billion streams. He also features heavily in the album rankings, with ‘Starboy’ coming in at number 2 and ‘After Hours’ at number 5.
The most-streamed album of all time is Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’, followed by Ed Sheeran’s ‘÷ (Deluxe)’ and Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘SOUR’. Other artists dominating the all-time top ten lists include Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, and Eminem.
Beyond music, the anniversary data highlights the cultural impact of spoken-word content. ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ sits at the top of the all-time podcast list, followed by the German production ‘Gemischtes Hack’. In the audiobook category, Sarah J. Maas leads the pack with ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’.
Reflecting on the last 20 years, the rankings illustrate a significant lean toward recent releases, mirroring the platform’s massive global expansion. Spotify now reports 751 million users and 290 million subscribers across more than 184 markets, accounting for over 31 per cent of the total music streaming market share.
