Pendulum Release ‘Inertia’ – First Album In 15 Years

15 years since their groundbreaking album Immersion, Pendulum are back in full swing with their latest LP. Produced by Rob Swire and Owen Charles at Pendulum’s London studio, Inertia started taking shape in 2020 as Swire explored what Pendulum means today. The album follows their 2021 Elemental and 2023 Anima EPs, which guide their new direction.
“I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum,” Rob admits. “Seeing what we could get away with. I always looked at The Prodigy as the benchmark. They started out as pure rave – breakbeat, hardcore – but they evolved. They became their own sound. You don’t even really associate them with breakbeat anymore. They just are The Prodigy.”
While the album lands today, many of the singles have already been released. The album, in fact, consists of just four new tracks, with two of them serving as interludes. As mentioned above, the LP includes their two EPs released in 2021 and 2023, as well as singles that have been dropped sporadically over the last 12 months. While this method makes sense in the streaming era, it takes away a lot of the excitement for the album, given that 75%+ has already been ingested by fans.
“It’s the sound of Pendulum finding themselves again, and me figuring myself out to a certain extent,” Rob said of the record. “Breakups do that – they strip things down and show you who you are. I’m just trying not to become the guy who needs to go through one just to make a record.”
Pendulum have crafted a perfect album that manages to pack the old school Pendulum feel, while being modern in 2025. The band include a range of collaborations to bring forward a good mix of rock and electronic sounds, balancing out the hecticness with softer elements. Let’s hope it’s not a 15-year wait for the next album, we all need Pendulum in our lives.
