Noisia Are Back: Legendary Drum and Bass Trio Reunites for 2026
The Dutch drum and bass heavyweights, Noisia, have officially reunited. Exactly seven years after they first announced their intention to separate, Nik Roos, Martijn van Sonderen, and Thijs de Vlieger are back in the studio together and gearing up for their first live performance since their farewell tour wrapped up at Lowlands in 2022.
The highly anticipated return show is locked in for December 4, 2026, at the iconic Melkweg in Amsterdam. For eager fans, presale tickets will be available on September 23, with the general sale following on September 25.
The reunion news was subtly teased with the release of a deadpan birdwatching documentary titled “Vlucht”, which dropped last week without any context. While fans initially scrambled to categorize the release and search for clues, the trio confirmed that the video was indeed a clever piece of bait leading up to the massive announcement.
In a heartfelt personal statement, Noisia explained that while they initially needed a hard stop to escape the creative deadlock and pressures they were facing, time apart allowed them to gain a fresh perspective. Despite pursuing their own solo endeavors, the three remained close friends, sharing a studio building and running their label Vision Recordings together. Over time, the heavy shadows of the past were replaced by memories of joy and mutual respect. What started as casual chats and bouldering sessions naturally blossomed into new musical plans.
Importantly, the trio is not abandoning their successful individual projects. Roos will continue his work with Sleepnet and his audiovisual project ring noord alongside Former, who recently released the punishing “Lownoise” EP. Van Sonderen remains an active part of the razor-sharp electronic duo Zonderling, and De Vlieger will keep exploring eccentric strains of club music under his Thys alias, having recently collaborated on the “Freak Frontier II” EP.
Instead of rushing out a traditional comeback album or committing to a rigid long-term plan, Noisia intends to take a more experimental approach. They plan to play with both their extensive back catalog and fresh material in front of live crowds, using the energy of the dancefloor to create a positive feedback loop that will directly influence their production decisions before they officially release any new tracks.
This unexpected but incredibly welcome reunion marks a monumental moment for the global dance music community, proving that sometimes, taking a step back is exactly what is needed to reignite the spark.
