‘The Testaments’ Official Trailer: A First Look at the Sequel to ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

Disney+ has officially unveiled the first trailer and key art for the highly anticipated original drama series ‘The Testaments’. Serving as a fresh evolution of the world established in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, this new chapter is set to premiere on 8 April with a three-episode launch, followed by weekly instalments.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed sequel, the series shifts the focus to a dramatic coming-of-age story within the borders of Gilead. The narrative follows two young teens, Agnes, a dutiful and pious girl raised within the regime, and Daisy, a new arrival and convert from beyond the border.

The pair must navigate the oppressive environment of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives. In a place where brutal obedience is masked by divine justification, their growing bond threatens to upend the past, present, and future of the entire social order.

The series brings back familiar creative forces, created for television by showrunner Bruce Miller. The executive production team includes ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ alumni Warren Littlefield and Elisabeth Moss, with Mike Barker directing the initial three episodes. The star-studded cast features the return of Ann Dowd, alongside Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, and Rowan Blanchard.
