Calvin Harris has officially released his latest single, ‘Ocean’, featuring the soulful voice of Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez.
This is not the first time Harris and Reyez have joined forces. Fans will remember their previous work on the track ‘Hard to Love’ from Harris’s critically acclaimed 2017 album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. Reyez also lent her songwriting talents to the chart-topping hit ‘One Kiss’, performed by Dua Lipa and produced by Harris, showcasing a creative synergy that now takes centre stage in their new single.
The tracks’ highlight comes from the catchy melody that Harris has ever so mastered. Alongside the vocal work from Reyez, the track is another solid one from the Scottish talent as he continued to pioneer the worlds of dance and pop.
The journey of ‘Ocean’ to its final release has been a topic of much discussion among fans. The track was first teased in early 2024 with vocals from pop superstar Miley Cyrus. However, that version was ultimately shelved, leading to a swirl of rumours and questions. Harris eventually clarified the situation, stating that there was no animosity and that the collaboration with Cyrus was a matter of “crossed wires.” His confirmation of Jessie Reyez as the vocalist has been met with a mix of anticipation and debate on social media.
