The English producer takes on the grand task of a full-length LP with grace, delivering a sensational selection of tracks. From vocal focused efforts to more club orientated productions; from start to finish – Chemistry is a no skip journey.
Lake has worked with some exceptional talents throughout the album, many being up and coming and left field artists – who come together to create some serious magic. Beyond the tracks, it’s clear that Chris Lake has an eye for talent. Whether it be an unexpected collaboration with Bonobo (who Chris Lake happens to be a big fan of, Lake told us exclusively) or work with smaller but just as talented MPH – both talents provide a perfect mix of sounds from each artist. The different sounds that come from collaborations bring a refreshing sound to the album, which still remains familiar.
The vocal work is also exceptional, with Lake opting to largely work with previous collaborators. Newcomers Yael Watchman and Black Lotus produce some of the stand out vocals on the project.
“I hope Chemistry draws more people into the deeper side of dance music,” Lake explained. “There’s a vulnerability in putting this out there, but that’s where the real connection happens. I’d love to see more full-length albums coming out of this space, and I want to help that grow.”
Each work feels like it’s been dipped in Chris Lake’s magic sauce, providing that vibey, clubby; yet easy to ingest sound that continues to bring him to the masses. It’s ever clear why Chris Lake has blown up so much as of late, everything he touches turns to gold and Chemistry is no different.
