CK Neiman (a.k.a. skips) Ventures Beyond Music: Launches Intimate Photographic Narrative and Underground Electronic Music Project

Producer, esteemed painter, renowned photographer, and an intricate tattoo artist, CK Neiman, has been serving us cutting-edge art in a handful of eye-catching ways. This creative talent has recently launched a new musical project: an underground electronic music venture known as ‘a.k.a. skips’, formerly recognized as Ducky. This unveiling was accompanied by the release of two songs, “F.T.N.U.” and “My Only Mistake.”

Neiman, who has previously shared the stage with artists like Jauz and MUST DIE! and electrified crowds at renowned music festivals like Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza, is now exploring a unique territory he’s ready for the world to share.

This year, Neiman steps into another sphere, intertwining his gift for visual storytelling with a deeply personal narrative. His debut photography book, “i want to rest and be held by someone who loves me,” is a raw, unvarnished exploration of his journey through addiction, sobriety, depression, and gender dysphoria. Shot through the intimate lens of film photography, the images span from Neiman’s adolescence into his early thirties.

In a bold and innovative stylistic choice, portions of the book are penned in the second person, fostering an empathetic space for readers to step into Neiman’s shoes. This approach serves to engage readers in a visceral, immersive journey through the complexities of queer identity and self-acceptance. As Neiman puts it, “This is by far the most intimate project I’ve ever done…”

Neiman’s debut photography book will be highlighted at the SF Art Book Fair, running from July 14 to July 16, and at the LA Art Book Fair, from August 10 to August 13. For those eager to delve into this intimate window into Neiman’s life, pre-orders are available now, with shipping set to commence in early August.

It’s clear that whether in the sonic realms of underground electronic music or the intimate visual narratives of his photographic work, Neiman continues to push boundaries, offering an uncompromising, nuanced look into his multifaceted journey. The exploration of his narrative – laced with trials, triumphs, and the quest for self-acceptance – becomes not just a testament to his personal strength but a beacon for those navigating similar paths.
