Hailing from London, Detox From Grey is a visionary group that is bringing fresh sonic experiences to alternative and indie music. This band encompasses Jiwoon, a master of synths and bass guitar, percussionist Marco, and vocalist-keyboardist hybrid Julie. After meeting each other while all attending a university in London, the trio realized that by combining their unique skill sets they could cultivate a genre-bending style of music.
Now, Detox From Grey is showcasing their signature sound with a new single, “Star In My Sky”. This track seamlessly intertwines uplifting instrumentation with Julie’s mesmerizing vocals to take listeners to a dream-like auditory place. With Julie raised in Denmark, Marco from Italy, and Jiwoon growing up in South Korea, “Star In My Sky” blends in this melting pot of cultural influences. Throughout the anthem, there is a variety of tantalizing guitar progressions and interstellar effects that keep its audience completely engaged.
Talking about the deeper meaning and process of creating “Star In My Sky”, Detox From Grey shares that it, “is about a mix of emotions – loneliness, feeling lost, but also the refusal to give up on love. Julie started working on the initial demo for ‘Star In My Sky’ during the lockdowns and sent the demo to the rest of the band, which captured that feeling of being lost and stuck – quite literally inside the house. The song came out of nowhere one late night and brought a sense of release to the frustration.” This passionate tune is just a preview of Detox From Grey’s full potential as they continue to build around their project.
