ELAC Interview: mau5trap, 2022 + More

Emerging into the electronic music scene in 2021, ELAC is an Australian-based Music Producer and DJ with an audacious persona and a niche for highly energetic atmospheres. Debuting on deadmau5’s well-respected label ‘mau5trap’ with his invigorating single “Blare”, ELAC is ready to showcase to the world his meticulous attention to squelchy baselines and exhilarating breakdowns. Synchronising the nostalgic 2010 Electro-House era with a new-age festival impression, ELAC’s uniquely tailored sound is something you don’t want to sleep on.

Following his debut release on mau5trap, Aussie based artist ELAC comes prepared with his heavily anticipated follow up, ‘Prison Of You’, We caught up with ELAC to get to know him a bit more.

Firstly to those who don’t know you, please introduce yourself and tell us abit about your musical background, and how you got into dance music?

Hey! My name is ELAC, I’m a half alien-half human ELECTRO HOUSE producer based out of Sydney, Australia. I’ve been making music for 7 years under an older alias (props to those that can find out) and debuted my latest project in Sep21!
I discovered dance music at a young age from rabbit hole-ing myself through YouTube. The Goatlord himself, Deadmau5 was my initiation into the scene all those years ago, and a hell of a ride it has been so far!

Your first ever ELAC release was on mau5trap which is quite an achievement, please tell us how that opportunity came about?

Speaking of deadmau5, yes! My debut release came out of his imprint label mau5trap which was so friggen sick. I was approached by mau5trap heavyweights No Mana & EDDIE to release a single of their ELECTROMAG compilation. They really enjoyed my unreleased archive of music and wanted me on the project with them.

Your newest release ‘Prison Of You’ is your latest, tell us a bit about the concept around the record, and the production stages/how it all came into one?

Prison of You’ was made deep within the covid-19 lockdowns here in Sydney. It’s been way too long since I’ve been in a dark nightclub listening to banging heavy music, so I was inspired to recapture that sound with some juicy baselines. The track just reminds me of that 2am electro slapper that you’d hear at the peak hour.

Whats coming up for ELAC ahead in 2022?

Been working on a HEAP of collaborations with some well known names in the scene & starting to finalise dates for those which is awesome. Also working hard to expand the project internationally & connect with peers and fans all around the globe. It’s still early days but 2022 is looking exciting for me..

Top 5 tunes at the moment?

KEEP MOVING – Bronson
Tonight – The Funk Hunters, Kotek
Espresso – KEETZ
So Good To Me – Chrizz Luvly
Arrival – VIZE, ALOTT
