Elements Music Festival Recap: Exceptional Sets, Artwork Installations, Renegades, Frick Frack & More!

Elements Music Festival 2023 went out with a bang! The festival was located in Long Pond PA on the Poconos Racetrack. Usually, festivals located on a racetrack are within the raceway but this festival was unique because the festival was on the grounds outside of the raceway, creating a very nature-esque experience. The festival is known for its diverse lineup of musical genres, immersive art installations, and unique themes that revolve around the elements of nature. It typically features a mix of electronic music, live performances, workshops, and interactive experiences.

The festival is organized around the four classical elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire, with each element serving as a thematic inspiration for different stages, art installations, and activities. These themes often influence the design of the festival grounds and the overall atmosphere.

Elements Music & Arts Festival usually offers multiple stages, each catering to different genres of music. These genres can range from electronic dance music (EDM), techno, and house to more experimental and live acts. The festival aims to create a diverse and inclusive environment where attendees can enjoy a wide range of musical experiences.

In addition to the music, the festival often incorporates various art installations, performances, and interactive experiences that align with the elemental themes. Attendees can expect to encounter large-scale sculptures, visual art displays, fire performances, water features, and other creative expressions that enhance the overall festival atmosphere.

There were immersive art installations in the forest line, as well as 5 huge stages with different genres playing all weekend. Some massive names like Skrillex, Rezz, Subtronics, and John Summit played sensational sets and made for an amazing experience. Also, the renegades were unlike any festival I’ve seen before. There were festival-sponsored renegades all throughout the campsites that were hosted by local collectives. Certainly a highlight of my experience and I would love to see more festivals adopting this idea.

Amazing Sets

Skrillex

His live performances are known for their high-energy sets, featuring a mix of his own tracks and remixes, as well as captivating visuals and stage production. When seeing him live you can see the level of professionalism he has when it comes to making music and creating a great set. He played almost every genre of EDM music and did it with flawless transitions that flowed so well together. He would go from playing other artist’s music like Fred Again to mixing it with his own style of dubstep and then going into playing drum and bass so fluently. He curates his sets with so much variety, that you get a taste of everything. The energy was very high for his set because he played right after the festival opened back up, due to shutting down for a few hours for the rain.

Rezz

She played at the earth stage and had what looked like the entire festival showing up to see her. She is very good at controlling the crowd in a way where she’s bringing you through a music journey. The way she incorporates her visuals with her music makes for a very fun yet dark feel that keeps you wanting to see more and dance the entire time. The whole crowd didn’t stop dancing and she gave a little mix of everything. Rezz has a very certain style of music but seeing her live and mixing in other music into her own, creates for her to showcase her evolving style while maintaining the core elements that make her music unique.

Subtronics

Jesse also played right after the rain storm so people were rushing to the Earth stage to get to his set! His set also had an overlap with Skrillex which made for a challenging decision for festivalgoers because two of the biggest headliners were on around the same time. This was only due to the rain, but it made for the perfect rain party running from set to set! Subtronics came out with amazing energy and showcased a very hard-styled set with lots of headbangers and heavy dubstep!

John Summit

His DJ sets are known for their energetic and groovy vibes, featuring a mix of his own tracks, remixes, and carefully selected house music from various subgenres. That is exactly what we got to see during his set at the Elements Festival! His set was exciting and kept you captivated the whole time. Everyone was vibing to the tech house offering and the energy from John was very contagious!

Renegades

At most festivals, there is always a party to look forward to in the campsites after the main stages close for the night. Usually, these camp parties are hosted by festival goers, but at Elements festival, they made it very official and had curated parties thrown by local collectives all throughout GA. This made for an incredible experience because I could just continue to go from stage to stage all night long! This festival really makes their festival goers feel incorporated and it makes all the difference.

Frick Frack

If you don’t know what this is, you’re in for a treat! Picture gambling at a blackjack table, but you can’t bet money! You can bet anything you want, and it makes for the most unique experience. The dealers will match your bet with the miscellaneous items they have that match the value of your item! You can end up leaving with some very interesting finds! I would recommend giving yourself time to come and play as well as maybe stop at Goodwill on your way to the festival to get some “High Roller” items. Some people were even betting their eyebrows! What a crazy experience! If you see frick frack at your next festival, take some time to go!

Artwork/live performers

All throughout the festival, there was art to engage in. There was a pathway from the Earth stage to the Air stage that felt like you were walking in a lit-up zoo! There were lit-up sculptures guiding you from stage to stage and little picture-esque spots to engage in and take pictures! There were also live performers throughout the festival doing things like acrobatic dancing, fire performers, and flow arts. This festival really focuses on much more than just the music performances and you can see that all throughout.

Conclusion

Elements Music Festival has great production and puts in a lot of effort to make for an amazing time! Each stage has its own theme according to the elements and has amazing sound! There are major headliners in their lineups, the grounds are great for a festival and there is plenty going on other than music. You can get lost there just running around and looking at their art installations, as well as watching a live performance. The way their renegade sets up in the campsite is already a massive incentive to go because it’s unlike other festivals. You can stay up all night in the campsites and see some secret sets! Overall, this festival is very much worth going to and I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in attending festivals.
