Boulder’s rising star Gusted is set to make waves in the electronic music scene with his latest project, a remix of Dead or Alive’s classic “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record).” This fresh take, releasing on December 8 via Ultra Records, represents a significant leap for Gusted, having received the nod of approval from the team of Dead or Alive.
Gusted’s version stands out with its hardgroove techno infusion, giving the iconic 80s track a modern twist. It features pulsating synths, a groovy bassline, and energetic elements all throughout – blended to reignite dance floors and captivate listeners. This reinterpretation breathes new life into the legendary song, marking a pivotal moment in Gusted’s career.
The remix’s genesis is a tale of overcoming creative roadblocks. Gusted shares,
“This track was crafted during a period of creative stagnation when it seemed like nothing was clicking…my friend Justin Jay encouraged me to not overthink it, which helped
me break through the writer’s block. I ultimately created a track I’d want to perform live.”
Born and raised in Chicago, 21-year-old Danny Dickmann, known professionally as Gusted, has quickly made a name for himself. Drawing inspiration from diverse artists like Patrick Topping, Justin Jay, Narciss, Marlon Hoffstadt, and Salvatore Ganacci, his sound transcends his years. His debut single, “Jet Plane,” released in late 2022, garnered over 25 million streams, showcasing his potential. His recent performance alongside deadmau5’s Testpilot alias at The Brooklyn Mirage’s sold-out show is one of many signs he’s on the way up.
