MYRNE And Karra Team Up for vibe-filled ‘Worlds Away’

0

After one of the most creative (and novel) song announcements I’ve seen, MYRNE has teamed up with songstress KARRA for a beautiful, future bass tune titled ‘Worlds Away’. The song was announced by friend and fellow melodic bass producer, Yetep, in a gratitude post for MYRNE. It was also revealed that this single would be the first from MYRNE’s upcoming artist album. Judging by the quality of this tune, we’re in for a dazzling treat when the time comes.

Karra’s crisp vocals float through the mix and start the song off, as the verses’ delicate charm welcomes listeners in. After this vocal section, where one might expect a heavy future bass drop, MRYNE surprises listeners with a wonderful chillstep drop with its fair share of kicks. A choral breakdown with a beautiful chord progression precedes the second drop, which brings us back to MYRNE’s classic future bass, with some San Holo-esque sound design on the leads and percussion.

Notably, this track comes to us via Ultra Records as opposed to MYRNE’s frequent distributor, Monstercat. It’s likely that the album will be released via Ultra too, hinting at him ushering in a new era of his sound.

Skrillex Continues The Quality With TroyBoi Collaboration

0

After releasing his Dog Blood EP together with Boyz Noise, Skrillex is back with another dope collaboration. Teaming up with TroyBoi for ‘WARLORDZ‘, this will be TroyBoi’s first track of 2019, which is understandable after releasing a 7 track EP late last year.

‘WARLORDZ‘ is exactly the type of track you’d expect to come from this collaboration, with very high energy, and a trap drop that hits hard – the mix of the artists’ abilities is ever present in this production. If you are a fan of Yellow Claw, this track will definitely be up your alley!

After his collaborations with Diplo and Flosstradamus as well as his Billie Eilish, TroyBoi has another hit on his hands. Anything Skrillex touches automatically turns to gold, this is another prime example of this!

It’s out now on OWSLA

Wasback & Suyano Team Up For Progressive House Anthem In ‘Colors’

0

After working together on the amazing track that was ‘Wait For The Night’, Suyano and Wasback are again joining forces for ‘Colors’, this time recruiting vocalist Daimy Lotus.

Like their previous productions, this release shows of their talents in melody crafting and overall sound design. With brilliant builds and the perfect structure; this is a breathtaking example of progressive house.

With Suyano releasing almost all of his discography through Hardwell’s Revealed, it’s no surprise that it will also be the home for ‘Colors’.

At just 21 years old, Wasback has already etched his name among the next generation of dance music stars. His ability to deliver anthemic and emotive tracks has garnered him the support of some of the industry’s most influential names, such as Hardwell, Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Afrojack and Nicky Romero to name a few.

Benny Benassi Releases First Single of 2019 With Chris Nasty on ‘Inside’

0

Iconic DJ and producer Benny Benassi teamed up with Chris Nasty for a new release “Inside,” a funky dancefloor smashing track that commemorates Benassi’s first single of 2019. It’s not the first time Benny and Chris have come together, they worked on ‘2 My House‘, ‘West Coast Patrol‘ and ‘Aphrodisiak‘ previously. This time they’ve teamed up for a ‘2019 Tech House‘ styled production called ‘Inside‘ out through Benny Benassi’s home label Ultra Records.

The star of the record is its driving, bouncy bassline, which is paired with electro-influenced melodies of varying texture and depth and a trippy, catchy vocal hook that will stay with you long after the track has ended. This production puts a modern and fresh twist on the style that forged Benny Benassi extensive career.

After his hit with Sofi Tukker late last year, it seems like Benny Benassi has gone for the quality over quantity route, and we’re not complaining. Hopefully his next will be just as good!

With punchy house beats and super catchy vocals from the original, this is yet again another quality remix from the Belgian. B-Sights takes what is already a funky track from Max Frost and spins it in a manner that would appeal to the more ‘dance’ crowd and presents a mix that could be dropped at the club or in your living room!

PREMIERE: ReauBeau and Ekko & Sidetrack awake the senses with “Higher”

0

ReauBeau makes his triumphant return to CULTR alongside Australian brother duo, Ekko & Sidetrack, via Circus Records. The two artists pair their audacious talents to create a stunning, amalgamation of adrenaline-laced bass and crisp synth progressions on new debutant, “Higher”. The record defies genre conforms and breathes a breath of tingling coolness into listeners’ ears.

At the core of “Higher” is a Drum ‘N’ Bass styling that is unabashedly fun and dares listeners not to embrace the rhythmic tugging of the kick. This DnB spirit is encompassed by gritty distortion. While this distortion is typically felt in bass and trap soundscapes, it adds a layer of energy that is infectious and uplifting, perfect for awakening the senses to start the work week. An additional pizzazz is brought forth by the delectable vocals that sit perfectly within the sound design and are hyper-catchy. You will definitely have the chorus stuck in your head.

ReauBeau is no stranger to the dance airwaves. The Dutchmen has oozed bold sound design highlighting why he’s garnering the attention of Annie Nightingale and BBC Radio 1, among many others. On the flipside, brothers, Ekko & Sidetrack, have made seismic rumblings in the bass scene with their distinct talent. It is clear why Reaubeau and Ekko & Sidetrack constructed such a wonderful, uplifting track.

Be sure to listen to the Premiere of “Higher” and you’ll be floating on Cloud 9.

Tritonal Drop Diverse, Dance-Pop Oriented Sophomore Album, ‘U & Me’

0

Album releases are often one of the most hyped events in EDM. Such is the case with Tritonal’s ‘U & Me’, which saw an album announcement in 2018, followed by a steady release of singles from the album. The album itself contains 19 bubbly records, each of them with their own charm and distinctiveness.

2018 saw the release of singles like ‘U Found Me’ and ‘Ready’, which hinted at a progressive house direction to the album. But, this belief was countered with the release of ‘Out My Mind’ and When I’m With U’, which were lovable, sing-along bops.

While the final release of the album came with only 7 new songs (for the other 12 had already been released), Tritonal showed with these 7 that they still had some magic up their sleeves. A warm, deep house record, ‘Little By Little’, opens the album, while ‘Bloom’ plays with vocoders and bass stabs in an electric combination. ‘Quit U’ is one of the more mellow records on the album, while ‘Show U Love’ adds a future house spin to the feel of ‘U & Me’.

My personal previously-unreleased favorites from this body of work are ‘Leaving Here Alone’, ‘Medicine’ and ‘Ayana’. ‘Leaving Here Alone’ is an upbeat, progressive house duet featuring Matluck and Karra on vocals, a throwback to the Painting with Dreams era. ‘Medicine’ sees Tritonal collaborate with SJ and Audrey Assad under their alias LEVV, for a down-tempo tune that oozes with love and gratitude.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, the best tune on the album is ‘Ayana’. A tune with Nick Sibicky (collaborator on ‘Only Mortal’ in Painting with Dreams), ‘Ayana’ starts off with a stunning piano section, with an absolutely indelible melody. Things take a psytrance turn in the first drop, and move on to melodic dubstep in the second. Two genres that one would never anticipate from this duo. Yet, it’s the track that closes off the album, a resounding testament to Tritonal’s versatility as producers. You can check out these three tunes as part of my weekly-curated New Music Friday Spotify playlist.

In quite a contrast to their previous LP, ‘Painting With Dreams’, this entire record sees Tritonal explore the world of dance-pop, with their own unique electro sound design percolating through its entirety. While records like the experimental ‘Ayana’ or ‘Ready’ bear much more semblance to their Painting with Dreams sound, the lead singles from the album, including ‘When I’m With U’, ‘Hard Pass’, ‘Little Bit of Love’ and ‘Diamonds’, all lean towards a more pop-geared sound.

This album stands out due to the coherent dance-pop approach which shines through each unique record, even if it be situated closer to deep house, future house progressive house or even trance. That’s the sign of a timeless LP; one that will be on repeat by fans across the world.

Tritonal show no signs of stopping anytime soon, as their EDC LV 2019 set proves. With a couple of fiery, yet beautiful progressive house IDs, they seem to be returning to their roots. Make sure to check the full set out here, and of course, check out the album below!

Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman Join Forces With Dzeko for ‘The King’

0

After their separate hits in ‘Payback‘ and ‘Jackie Chan‘, melodic masters Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman have teamed up with Canadian artist Dzeko for ‘The King‘. After being heavily anticipated, it’s finally here in a collaboration release between Musical Freedom and Buce Records.

After releases such as ‘Payback‘, ‘Empire‘, ‘Penny‘, ‘Phantom‘ and literally countless other incredible melodic productions, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman continue their dominance of their genre with ‘The King‘.

Dzeko, as the 88th most streamed artist in the world on Spotify with 10-15 million monthly listeners on the platform, he’s showing no signs of slowing down, and it’s ever so evident with this release.

Being an instrumental, all attention is guided towards the melody and rightfully so! Evident throughout the record are the elements introduced by Dzeko (& Torres) which wrap the track up into a very solid release. With the added bonus of two labels being involved in the release, this track has all the potential to rock the dance scene this European summer!

Ferry Corsten Releases The Latest UNITY Collaboration with BT on ‘1997’

0

Ferry Corsten is back with his latest ‘Unity’ collaboration, after releasing the last one with Ilan Bluestone back in December – Ferry has teamed up with BT for a special collaboration in ‘1997‘.

Ferry Corsten has been busy with solo music in the first half of 2019, releasing ‘Freefall‘ – which feels like a more commercially viable release. He also returned to his Gouryella alias with ‘Surga‘.

Ferry Corsten has brought in another big name into the Unity project, with the legend that is BT. After remixing BT’s track ‘Suddenly’ in 2010, the pair are familiar with each other’s prowess in the studio, and that united vision is showcased in abundance. The team-up sees both artists strengths utilised to their best potential to create a track that is greater than the sum of its parts. As it should, the production leans heavily on the killer uplifting melody – which is a prominent throughout the entire track. The mix of each artist’s styles is present and concludes in an epic collaboration.

Ferry launched the UNITY project in 2018 with his collaboration alongside Paul Oakenfold titled ‘A Slice Of Heaven’, and continued working with artists within the Trance community throughout the year, such as DIM3NSION, Jordan Suckley, Saad Ayub and Ilan Bluestone, and after the success of 2018 has more releases in store after making his first donation to project partner, VH1’s Save The Music Foundation, an organisation launched to reinstate music programs in public schools, which to date has raised over $53 million and helped over 2,100 public schools.

Thomas Gold & Raiden Collaborate on Progressive Gem ‘Someone New’

0

Marking their inaugural collaboration, German artist Thomas Gold teams up with Korean act Raiden for ‘Someone New‘. With this only being Raiden’s first single of this year, he’s made up for the delay with a killer release! Thomas Gold on the other hand has been releasing a multitude of top tracks on the likes of Protocol, Revealed and Armada.

This piece is a mixture of classic and dynamic sounds, with soulful vocals and uplifting melodies that make ‘Someone New’ an instant hit for both radio and festival play. The vocals guide the break into the build which in turn of course brings it into the funky yet melodic drop that combines each artists talents into a fresh production.

With neither artist being a stranger to Protocol Recordings, you can always expect quality when you see them come together.
