0

Australian Duo Peking Duk have a knack for finding creative ways to present their brand, and enlisting the best vocalists to pair with their masterful productions, their abilities have led to them picking up mega awards and global mainstream awareness. From streaking with Hamish & Andy to performing the half time show at major sporting events and gracing the stage at festivals around the globe, this party starting duo have managed to keep the sound on well beyond their cities lockout laws, with hits time after time they have risen to become one of Australia’s most successful electronic acts.

They gained acclaim with releases including vocal features from Icona Pop, SAFIA, AlunaGeorge, and Nicole Millar on singles such as ‘High’, ‘Take Me Over’ and ‘Stranger’, having performed both as DJ’s and with their full live show around the globe, the eclectic duo have now teamed up with fellow Aussie, Jack River on the highly anticipated ‘Sugar’. The 90’s throwback themed record was premiered on Triple J today and released shortly after on all streaming services.

‘Sugar’’ is an undeniably catchy vocal record with a chill dance/electronica feel that is energised by stabby bass drops, it fits nicely alongside their previous catalogue while also still carving its own edge. The vocal performance from River and the throwback artwork illicit a nostalgia for a simpler time, we predict it will grow to be a staple on the Aussie radio waves and beaches the rest of summer. The release of ‘Sugar’ is a nice warm up to a big year ahead for Duk’s with their upcoming run of shows aptly named “BIGGEST. TOUR. EVER…so far” which will hit dates all over Australia, with many already sold out. Click Here For Those Details

Tritonal Collaborates With Young Gun Kapera For ‘Easy’

0

Duo Tritonal are back once again with an incredible production ‘Easy‘. Teaming up with Kapera and Ryann, ‘Easy‘ brings back concepts of the progressive house sound Tritonal was once known for and mixes it with a more commercial track arrangement.

It’s pretty impressive from Kapera to have ‘Easy‘ has his debut single, releasing a track of this quality in collaboration with Tritonal isn’t something that should be forgotten. We’re eagerly looking out for the follow up!

‘Easy‘ is a single from their upcoming album ‘U&ME‘ – we should expect this in the following months.

‘Easy’ kicks of 2019 in a great way for Tritonal, with a 30 show USA run going until mid-march – 2019 is looking bright for Tritonal.

Tritonal’s massive February 1st show at the Hollywood Palladium will also be a special one for the duo, as they have teamed up with Sony’s new immersive audio experience, 360 Reality Audio, to record the performance. Tritonal are one of only six acts having their performances recorded, and the only artists in the the dance music space helping launch the product. Their 360 audio recording will provide a music experience so immersive, fans will feel like they are at the live show.

Will Clarke & Nick Monaco Pen Dirtybird’s First 2019 Release ‘Like A Girl’

0

Dirty Bird introduces their 2019 release schedule with a highly anticipated collaboration ‘Like A girl’ from Will Clarke & Nick Monaco. The 8th appearance on DIRTYBIRD from Nick Monaco with a jerking, jacking techno anthem with a crazy combination of sounds that’ll have you dancing the night away.

The labels first release of the year is an instant party starter, and sonically it’s a perfect pairing of both DJ’s creativity and inspirations. Like a Girl leans itself to the techno lovers and is a field away from the house-heavy sound their typically known for, but then again their fans are accustomed to them rejecting trends, and carving out their own path. Like a Girl is an energetic master piece and its already forming into an anthem for DJ’s, and dance-floors that we think will be playing out late into the mornings across the globe for some time.

Lulleaux And Melsen Collide For ‘Fallin’

0

Rotterdam based Hugo Prick aka Lulleaux has teamed up with Melsen and talented vocalist Twan Ray for ‘Fallin‘, released through Be Yourself. This collaboration results in a spectacular track. This isn’t the first time these two artists have been involved in a release before, Melsen’s skills were requested to remix Lulleaux’ hit ‘Contact‘.

‘Fallin‘ can best be described as an uplifting dance track with a solid melodic progression produced by that signature dance music piano. The vocals perfectly fit in with the melody, creating a really catchy track that will definitely get you moving.

Both Lulleaux and Melsen have had success in the past, with Melsen releasing many memorable tracks such as his collaboration with Tom Tyger ‘I Need U‘ on Protocol Recordings. Lulleaux has many big tracks with plenty plays, with ‘Contact‘ boasting over 36 million. ‘Fallin‘ appears to only be Twan Ray’s second proper release, after this track – he’ll defiantly be in high demand for features.

The Hollywood Reporter & Billboard Media Group Lay Off More Than 20 Staff

0

It’s going to be a rough start to the year for more than 20 staff at Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group.

2018 wasn’t smooth sailing as we saw Billboard’s CEO, John Amato, forced to step down following an internal investigation into the fact that he had prevented or influenced or halted reporting about serious sexual abuse allegations against a leading music exec, Charlie Walk, who also happens to be his personal friend. It was reported he recieved an $18 Million US settlement upon his departure which makes it even more painful to hear the company has laid off it’s staff. Key exits include Dana Miller, the media group’s Chief Marketing Officer, and Jayme Klock, Managing Editor for Billboard’s magazine.

This Is How Many Active Users Spotify Have

0

At the annual CES convention this past week we were introduced to a variety of new tech developments, innovations and proposals. We also learned a few new facts about Spotify and their plans coming into the new year regarding Podcasts.

The service now has over 200 million users, a notable twice the size of the next competitors, in which have avenues to up-sell and on sell with existing services and technology products such as Amazon with Alexa & Prime, and Apple Music with their phones, MacBooks and watches which all build intuitively with Apple Music.

The milestone means a 9 Million increase in users since November when it was revealed they had 191 million followers. However, it is reported that 109 million of those are only on ad-supported free tiers. Meaning more than 50% of the users are paying artists with ad views and listens, a method that pays out less than that of paid users streaming the same song and a bad thing for artists, but still better than YouTube.

Spotify noted that it’s future plans are built around trying to grow its market share in new regions and those who haven’t embraced it, such as in 2018 launching in South Africa and the Middle East. India will be the next big market for streaming music dominance which will have the potential to allow artists a way to tap into a market that is otherwise dominated by Savvn and is speculated to be a leverage tool for the major labels.

“We’ve said all along, we want to focus on growth, We believe in being a profitable company, but first and foremost we have to grow and get to regions of the world that still don’t have Spotify. There are still parts of the United States where Spotify is not widely used. So I think the company has done a great job of prioritizing growth and making the service better, because there’s a lot of competition and we’re only as good as the user thinks we are so we have to continue to enhance our service.”

— Dustee Jenkins, Spotify Global Head of Communications

Further to their portfolio, they demonstrated that Podcasts which are mostly funded by private advertisers currently will become a major focus for the company in coming months and will include more original shows and improvements to the functions and user interface on the Podcast section of the Spotify App.

“We believe there is a future – a significant opportunity in podcasts. It’s a game-change.”

— Dustee Jenkins

Creamfields Will be Swedish House Mafia’s Only UK Show in 2019

0

After months of speculation, Creamfields confirmed Swedish House Mafia for their upcoming 2019 lineup. The trio were the first headliners to be announced for the UK festival, which last year boasted a stacked lineup with artists such as Tiesto, Major Lazer, The Chainsmokers, Solardo, Nicole Moudaber, Carl Cox, and SHM members Axwell / Ingrosso.

The legends have also announced this date notably as being their only UK show in 2019. This suggests a fairly short and condensed tour schedule, with only a small number of major appearances for the group. Other shows confirmed by SHM’s official social media include Frequency festival in Austria, Tinderbox in Denmark, and Stavernfestivalen in Norway. These have been announced on top of the previously announced dates in Stockholm and Mexico City and their individual residencies in Las Vegas.

Although the trio have confirmed new music in the works, it will be interesting now to see what other shows they have booked, and what part of the world will be lucky enough to experience it live. Rumours have been circulating of a special performance at EDC, and a headline slot on the highly-speculated “Journey On” fest, a potential tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock. One thing is for sure, we can expect a lot of hype, mystery, and intrigue around every corner, and incredible new works from the legendary producers and their recent signing to Ron Lafitte’s Patriot Management.

Tickets for Creamfields are on sale now and you can get them in some cheap packages from less than a night out. Get yours here!

Calvin Harris fresh off the news he’s been hitting the studio with Dua Lipa again, now releases his first single of 2019 with a collaboration with one of the UK’s greatest new talents, Rag’n’Bone Man on ‘Giant’ which was released today via Sony Music.

Rag’n’ Bone Man’s deep baritone voice blends this into an infectiously catchy vocal house record that features Harris’ signature epic piano keys and spiced with catchy horns and a quirky vocal chant that will have you grooving all day long. This one has maximum repeat potential so expect to hear this one blasted out on the radio, your playlists and dance-floors for months to come.

With Calvin’s track record last year including ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa, ‘Promises’ with Sam Smith, ‘I Found You’ with benny blanco, Nuh Ready Nuh Ready with PARTYNEXTDOOR and his 2 track EP with Normani. We don’t doubt the fact that 2019 might see a new album, possibly Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2?
