The Disco Biscuits Release ‘Revolution in Motion,’ Their Ninth Studio Album with an Intergalactic Twist

The Disco Biscuits unveiled their ninth full-length studio album titled Revolution in Motion. This release features 14 tracks, with production handled by Derek VanScoten, also known as Cloudchord. Accompanying the music, a series of comic book-style 3D animated films created by Blunt Action have been shared on the band’s YouTube channel. Fans can purchase the album on vinyl and CD via the band’s merchandise website.

“Revolution in Motion” presents a narrative where extraterrestrials arrive in New York City with a plan to freeze and kidnap humans for research to benefit their own world. Unforeseen by the invaders, The Disco Biscuits intervene. The story progresses with the band and the alien crew journeying to the extraterrestrials’ homeworld, aiming to convince their queen of music’s potential to quell societal tensions.

Over the past two years, the band introduced all 14 tracks during live performances, solidifying many as favorites and avenues for on-stage improvisation. The concept for the opera originated from Jon Barber (Guitar/Lead Vocals) and his collaborator, Joey Friedman, in August 2021. Tagging the new tracks as tunes “music aliens would love,” the writing process began in early 2022 with Aron Magner (Keyboards/Vocals).

Amidst a sprawling tour spanning over 35 dates across the United States, The Disco Biscuits’ journey includes performances in cities like Buffalo, Louisville, and Nashville, and a notable appearance at the Texas Eclipse Festival near Austin. The band has celebrated the album’s launch with a sold-out show at New York City’s Webster Hall and now they are officially of the races.
