Spuds Emerge From The Shadows On New Single “Ghost” Featuring Aina Abdul

In recent years Malaysia has been steadily growing its reputation as one of the premier hubs for electronic music in South East Asia, reminding us of that one of it’s brightest talents has released a groundbreaking new single. Talented duo Spuds mark their long-awaited return with ‘Ghost’ featuring the award-winning vocalist Aina Abdul.

Having spent the past 12 months focusing on their pop project MFMF, Spuds are back with fury. The highly equipped producers have previously clocked up millions of plays online across singles such as “Flashes”, “Alone” and “Okay”. Their return on “Ghost” marks the start of a new chapter, and while they bring the fuel on the production skills many regional music fans will recognise the vocalist as Aina Abdul who was the runner up on ‘Mentor Legend’ – one of Malaysia’s top singing competition TV shows.

‘Ghost’ was the result over a years work and is arguably the most complex song the duo has ever produced under the Spuds name. The intertwining of their powerful leads and Aina’s bright and powerful vocals proved to be difficult, but ultimately it led to the creation of a melody that would perfectly showcase the flexibility of both artists.

“Ghost” is new-age anthem for women to liberate themselves from unhealthy relationship pieties. Aina explores female empowerment in what is considered taboo in traditional Asian culture, with Aina calling the shots by ending a toxic codependency with the message behind ‘Ghost’.
