Hyper, Jack Trammell, and Sam Matlock Go All Out On Modern Refix Of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’

With the Nevermind anniversary having just recently passed by, this new version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” couldn’t have come at a better time. Three musicians from 3 different walks of life have eclectically put their sonic style all in one track to render what is a memorable, exceptional version of a classic. Bursting with grit and edginess, the tune brings brings a modern rock feel with bass-heavy sensibilities. All while Sam Matlock takes the vocals to a special spot that shakes the soul.

Released on Position Music, the single taps into the spirit of the original nicely, maintaining the integrity of what the original is about while dressing it up to be a wicked ride through and through.

Here is what Hyper had to share regarding the single:

Nirvana is as punk as they come. I remember when Nirvana’s ‘Bleach’ came out and I devoured that record. Nirvana sent shockwaves through the punk and grunge community and unleashed a new energy that is, to this day, a constant muse for me and my fellow musicians. It was humbling to do this record, and Sam [Matlock], Jack [Trammell] and I wanted to make something fiercely original that still captured the essence and legacy of Nirvana.”

Artist Hyper is of own lane of music, but has caught the eye of plenty of industry heads in the end with his stand out qualities. Ultra Music signed his recent release “Post Punk,” which featured iconic rock-acts from 2 different eras, Iggy Pop and The Crystal Method.

Sam Matlock has some massive momentum he’s built up in his time as well. The son of Sex Pistols bass guitarist, the man has carved out his own lane in music and made a name for himself. A member of the band Wargasm, his guitar and vocal work there is one part of a greater aspect that’s highly in demand.

Jack Trammel is a king when it comes to making cinematic productions suitable for trailers of new video games and movies. The man has an endless scroll of projects he’s worked on, his skillset being epic in itself buts ups the ante as far as bringing the cover to a spot where it’s the best it can be.
