In the world of bass-driven music today, JACKNIFE stands out for all the right reasons. He’s not just a run-of-the-mill music producer, but more like a highly-driven talent shaping bass music into the style he prefers. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, he moved to Los Angeles, and this move represents a bigger change in his story.
His EP, THE BLADE ROOM EP, doesn’t leave anything to chance. It begins with “MOVE,” which is like an introduction with its strong bassline and synths and has plenty of catchy elements within. Then there’s “4U,” which has sharp sounds and doesn’t waste anytime getting the energy out there. “GOODBYE” slows things down, creating a sad feeling with a mix of harmonious sounds. The deeper bass in “HIVE MIND” and “TAKE ME” bring back the energy and start giving the listener a true sense of what the EP as a whole is about. And “NEED2KNOW” closes things out, using bass to make energetic drops, like the exciting finish of a big musical piece.
Juggernauts like Skrillex supporting him as well as working with The Bloody Beetroots show that JACKNIFE is way more than a passing fad. People are excited about his upcoming U.S. tour starting on September 15th, where he will surely rinse the EP out properly.
