Avicii’s Collaborators Discuss Creative Process Behind New Song “Tough Love”

Avicii’s co-writers and songwriters Vargas and Lagola, who worked on his songs “Silhouettes”, “Waiting For Love”, “You Make Me”, have been featured in a behind-the-scenes video on the making of “Tough Love” featuring pop singer (and wife of Lagola) Agnes, a new single rumoured to be released this Friday. In the video posted to Avicii’s YouTube channel, they recall the producer and friend Tim Bergling’s use of samples, referencing old oriental-inspired hip hop beats and cartoon sounds, and Tim’s desire to have the song be a duet, as well reflect on his persistent attitude and his creative vision, sharing personal stories that give a look into the man behind the name.

Remember Avicii With His 10 Best Tracks

0

Today, the 20th of April 2019, marks one year since the unfortunate death of Tim Bergling aka Avicii. His contribution to not just dance music but music in general was undeniable. It’s been a year but his loss is still felt throughout the music industry, and brought awareness to mental health amongst artists. We continue to remember Avicii with his incredible music and with new music on the way he look forward to supporting the charity his family and label have formed as we get to listen to his final works. Today we’ve decided to remember him on this special day with what we think are 10 of his greatest dance tracks, not in any particular order.

Avicii – Levels (2011)
This is one of the biggest ‘EDM‘ tracks ever. When released in 2011 it took the world by storm. It made its way onto commercial radio and stayed there for some time. ‘Levels‘ really brought Avicii and dance music further into the mainstream and ‘Levels‘ guaranteed his pathway to success.

Avicii – Wake Me Up (2013)
Arguably Avicii’s largest track, with over 800 million streams, ‘Wake Me Up‘ was an instant success – playing every where you went. Being by far the most popular single on his debut album ‘True’, ‘Wake Me Up‘s catchy vocals were sung by literally everyone!

Avicii & Sebastien Drums – My Feelings For You (2010)
’My Feelings For You’ was the most popular of the tracks released with Vicious Recordings and is one of many produced with Sebastien Drums. As with many Avicii tracks, it has a killer vocal that is instantly memorable. ‘My Feelings For You‘ is still an amazing house record today.

Avicii – Fade Into Darkness (2011)
‘Fade Into Darkness‘ released to a great reception amongst fans. Along with ‘Levels‘, this helped Avicii break through into the mainstream. This track still goes strong to this day. It is a prime example of Avicii’s ability to create incredible melodies. There was an alternative release where the instrumental was used for Avicii’s collaboration with Leona Lewis ‘Collide‘.

Tim Berg – Seek Bromance (2010)
Released under Avicii’s real name Tim Berg, ‘Seek Bromance‘ was an remarkable track. It went Gold in three countries and Platinum in Sweden, even under another alias. The vocal version of the track includes vocals from the track ‘Love U Seek’ by Italian DJ Samuele Sartini featuring English singer Amanda Wilson.

Avicii & Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One (2012)
’I Could Be The One’ was an ID for a very long time and made waves in dance music before it was even released. It was originally titled ‘Nicktim‘, based on Nicky and Tim’s names and was a mashup with the vocals from Justice ‘D.A.N.C.E.‘. This collaboration solidified Avicii and Nicky Romero’s friendship and served as an absolutely amazing release for the dance music community and the world to enjoy.

Nadia Ali – Rapture (Avicii Remix) (2010)
One of the many incredible remixes from Avicii was Nadia Ali’s ‘Rapture‘. It’s not the only one of Avicii’s remixes that have become even bigger than the original. The remix consists of Nadia Ali’s great vocals leading into another of Avicii’s killer melodies.

Avicii – Waiting For Love (co-produced with Martin Garrix) (2015)
Avicii working with Martin Garrix is something that we were very lucky to get. Martin is not credited as a title artist however he is officially a co-producer for this record. It was released in 2015 as the lead single of Avicii’s most recent album ‘Stories‘.

Avicii feat. Sandro Cavazza – Without You (2017)
’Without You’ is the most recent on this list – released in 2017. One of the many tracks that feature Swedish vocalist Sandro Cavazza, the drop features Avicii’s impeccable sound with the energy and melody to match. With almost 500 million plays on Spotify, this and his track ‘Lonely Together‘ with Rita Ora are his most popular from the AVĪCI EP.

Bob Sinclar – New New New (Avicii Meets Yellow Remix) (2010)
Definitely not a mainstream remix from Avicii now, as well as back in 2010. This almost 8 minute remix is certainly one of the best from the Swede – awesome house vibes with of course an excellent trademark Avicii melody. This hidden gem is a part of ‘Strictly Bob Sinclar’ as well as Avicii’s ‘Strictly Miami’ compilation.

Today marks the day of the launch of a newly formed charity by Avicii’s family entitled ‘Tim Bergling Foundation’, a nonprofit dedicated to helping treat mental illness and prevent suicide. With all proceeds from Avicii’s upcoming album ‘Tim‘ going to said charity.

Thank you Tim, we will always remember you.

Avicii’s Single ‘SOS’ From Upcoming Album Is Here

After officially announcing the new album a few days ago, Avicii’s team and family have released ‘SOS’, the single off his posthumous album ‘TIM‘. SOS features Aloe Blacc making it their third collaboration, with the previous two being ‘Wake Me Up’ and ‘Liar Liar’.

The lyrics kick off ‘Can You Hear Me SOS, help me put my mind to rest”, and continues to address elements of struggles and darkness linked with depression and addiction, yet it describes someone ready to get help. Hearing these lyrics and Avicii’s work is chilling knowing this was the music he was working on around the time off his tragic passing.

All proceeds from the new music and album will go to a newly formed charity by Avicii’s family entitled ‘Tim Bergling Foundation’, a nonprofit dedicated to helping treat mental illness and prevent suicide. The charity will officially launch on the one year anniversary of Tim’s death; April 20th.

Carl Falk, who worked with Avicii and has been working on this album for the past 6 months struggled to finalise the album: “I was trying to produce through someone else’s eyes and ears — someone who’s not here,” he said with vexed intensity, while sitting at his control board. “It was really hard not to criticize yourself the whole time. Would he like this? What would he have done?”

This is going to be a very emotional month for Avicii’s fans. We will remember him.

Given the circumstances surrounding his passing, we’d like to also make note. If you or someone you know is going through difficult times, the international helpline numbers can be found here.

Lyrics – Avicii’s SOS
[Verse 1]
Can you hear me? SOS
Help me put my mind to rest
Two times clear again I’m acting low
A pound of weed and a bag of blow

[Chorus]
I can feel your love pulling me up from the underground
And I don’t need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
And I don’t need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Post-Chorus]
We could be more than just part-time lovers
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Verse 2]
I get robbed of all my sleep
As my thoughts begin to leave
I let go but I don’t know how
Yeah I don’t know how but I need to now

[Chorus]
I can feel your love pulling me up from the underground
And I don’t need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
And I don’t need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers
I can feel your touch picking me up from the underground
I don’t need my drugs
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Post-Chorus]
We could be more than just part-time lovers
We could be more than just part-time lovers

[Outro]
Can you hear me? SOS
Help me put my mind to rest

A single called ‘SOS‘ will be released beforehand on April 10th.

Otto Knows Returns to Music

0

After almost 7 months off from music overall as well as social media, Swedish artist Otto Knows is signalling that he is coming back with some new music. Having played his last set at Tomorrowland 2018 he went silent, deleting everything on his Instagram.

His reasons for taking a break are unknown but we can assume the tragic and very public loss of his close friend Avicii some months earlier played some part. His official note states that he is “having fun making music again”. While everyone deals with such loss in their own way having shared a long and also creative bond it can make it infinitely harder to move on and also find enjoyment in creating the very passion you shared with that person.

We’re unsure when we can expect new music exactly, however with Otto Knows’ discography we know it’ll be quality and we’re excited to see whats in store. Reddit user minineko commented about a potential new track: “Song is called “One In A Million”. Kinda down-tempo (101bpm) but it’s real groovy.” This title would be fitting considering his biggest track ‘Million Voices‘.

The note states the following

“Hi followers
It’s been a while crocodile
New music is coming your way
I have no idea where this journey will take us
All I know is that it started on a boat with me having fun making music again!

Peace & respect
Otto”

Update: Otto Knows has shared a video about his boat studio

LEAKED: Avicii’s Unreleased Collab with Chris Martin Is Published Online

Following the heartbreak passing of Avicii, the track ‘Heaven’ always stood out. Featuring Coldplay’s Chris Martin, ‘Heaven‘ had been played out by different artists for months. There was evidence that new avicii music was coming out and this new HQ version of ‘Heaven‘ seems to support that.

It’s unconfirmed whether or not this is the final version of the track but by listening to it you can tell its very close.

There are supposedly more unreleased Avicii material to be leaked also, take this with a grain of salt – unconfirmed source.

The track is being taken down all over the internet so if this link is dead, that’s why.
