Seth Rogen And Lonely Island Plan to Make Fyre Festival Spoof

Comedy-stars Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island are planning to create a spoof on the failed music event, Fyre Festival.

For those who don’t know about the Fyre Festival, the notorious event was scheduled to take place over two weekends on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma in April and May 2017. The festival was uncovered to be an huge legal disaster, resulting in the founder, Bill McFarland being sent to prison and event collapsed due to horrible planning including lack of security, food, accommodations and artist relations. Despite attendees already going, the event was postponed on the spot, leaving the festival goers stranded on the island with makeshift tents and limited pre-packed sandwiches. Ensued were eight lawsuits, seeking damages in excess of $100 million.

After Netflix released a documentary revealing all the ludicrous flaws of the event, Seth Rogen tweeted that he planned to write a film alongside comedy trio, The Lonely Island prior to the Netflix Documentary even happening:

“For real, thinking about suing #FyreFestival for stealing our idea”  – Seth Rogen

The Lonely Island, consisting of members Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg, and Jorma Taccone could still go ahead with Seth on the spoof. Speaking to the Daily Beast, Jorma Taccone explained that in all of the popularity of the Fyre Festival issues, they still want to make the film happen:

“I don’t want to divulge all the details but we’re figuring it out right now. You’ve seen the docs, right? It’s crazy. This is something that Akiva and Seth cooked up, and we’re figuring it all out right now.” – Jorma Taccone
