Electronic music artist Subtronics unveils “TESSERACT,” his second studio album, today on Cyclops Recordings. This release showcases the artist’s skill in producing a wide array of music, pushing the envelope with a forward-looking collection. Coinciding with the album’s launch, Subtronics embarks on a 16-date tour across the United States, starting tonight in Minneapolis.
“TESSERACT” serves as a direct follow-up to Subtronics’ debut album “FRACTALS,” aiming to showcase a diverse range of styles, sounds, and emotions. Subtronics (Jesse Kardon) expresses a desire to construct an engaging alternative reality filled with magic and a science fiction-inspired world of energy and emotion.
The album features collaborations with a variety of talents, including vocalists like Crooked Bangs, Jem Cooke, Kwengface, and Grabbitz. Additionally, esteemed singer/songwriter Lykke Li contributes as a co-writer on “Alien Communication.” The LP also benefits from the expertise of fellow producers REZZ, Excision, and HOL!, adding depth to the project.
Inspired by the concept of a tesseract, a complex figure in fourth-dimensional geometry, Subtronics explores the limits of sound design and genre fluidity, akin to navigating the cosmos. This theme extends to the audio-visual experience of the album and the innovative stage design and visual elements of the TESSERACT tour.
In 2023, Subtronics was recognized as “Best DJ” by DJ Mag and was the only electronic music act listed on Pollstar’s Top 100 North American Tours. The TESSERACT Tour will feature Wooli as a special guest, along with support from HEDEX, Saka, Jon Casey, and others, highlighting Subtronics’ prominence in the live music scene. The tour will hit major venues, including NYC’s Barclays Center and Boston’s MGM Music Hall, culminating in CYCLOPS ROCKS IV at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, featuring a lineup of special guests.
