Now, he is showcasing once again why he has become such a crucial member of electronic music. Teaming up with the prominent Gravitas Recordings, Dillard has released his anticipated LP, Garden Mother.
Consisting of eight unique tracks, Dillard’s innovative production mindset and artistic vision shine bright throughout this compilation. In “Cubic Nest”, a downtempo beat is accompanied by obscure soundscapes and samples from nature, such as birds chirping. “Botany Agent” features upbeat tribal drumming and psychedelic chants towards the end. Another stand-out is the album’s title track, which is centered around a funky trip hop bassline. Closing out Garden Mother is “Technicolor”, a beautiful display of celestial synths and effects.
Altogether, Garden Mother is a project that redefines the limits of genre and sound. Listening to the LP, there is no question as to why Dillard has performed at the likes of Sonic Bloom, Infrasound Festival, and other top-tier events.
