Global dance music powerhouse Dom Dolla has been enlisted to remix the new Gorillaz track ‘New Gold’ which features both Tame Impala & Bootie Brown.
Dolla holds onto the catchy vocal and brings a new thumping backing that highlights his house production. With uplifting elements and dark and gritty deep components, Dom Dolla’s remix is a great mix of new and old.
The remix has been tried and tested in the opening of Dom Dolla sets in recent months. A teased snippet on Dom Dolla’s Tiktok, from a live show at LA’s Shrine Expo Hall, amassed over 500K views in its first day. The remix is another milestone in what has been a huge year for Dom Dolla. For the Gorillaz, this marks their first official remix in over five years, an honour which is not lost on Dom Dolla.
Talking about the remix, Dom says “Damon, Jamie and Kevin are all huge inspirations of mine creatively, being given the chance to put my spin on a collaboration between them all was an honour.” He adds, “Chopping Bootie Brown’s vocals to create hip-house hooks was how this remix started, then it moved to some wonky synthesis ended with some moody breaks… the result has been a real moment in my DJ sets of late. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it”
