Elohim Opens Up About Medication And Mental Health With ‘Can’t Remember Your Name’ Signed To Position Music

Elohim’s latest single, “Can’t Remember Your Name,” marks a departure of sorts from her previous work. Following “Broken Face” in December, this new track delves deeper into her personal struggles, particularly her confrontation with prescription medication during her fall tour in 2023.

Confronted with overwhelming anxiety and panic, Elohim turned to medication, escalating to five times the prescribed dosage. This reliance led to severe physical symptoms, including weight loss, shaking, and vomiting, forcing her to cancel the tour and seek medical help.

Elohim’s own words capture the gravity of her situation: “Medication has been amazing, life-saving, and life-changing for me but it also began to lead me down a dark and unhealthy path. When I was touring in the fall I wasn’t myself. I was puking every day, I couldn’t stop shaking, I couldn’t eat. I felt and looked like a zombie.” Her recovery involved a comprehensive treatment plan, combining balanced medication, exercise, and therapy.

Elohim finds solace in writing, which has been therapeutic during her recovery. “There are moments when I’m writing and I get so lost I forget about my problems for a moment in time. She shares, “Writing ‘Can’t Remember Your Name’ was one of those moments while I was lying down in my room.”

Signed to Position Music, “Can’t Remember Your Name” is a dance-focused, bass-heavy track that reflects Elohim’s musical versatility, blending electronic atmospherics and dramatic cinematic effects in a way that’s totally here own. Her ethereal vocals, set against a backdrop of swelling bass and echoing synths, poignantly express her struggles: “I take the drugs so my fears go away.”

The single, an honest reflection of Elohim’s journey, is accompanied by a visualizer. Elohim, with over 600 million streams worldwide, continues to inspire with her openness about mental health, reminding us of the power of music in healing and recovery. Her collaborations with artists like Skrillex and Marshmello, and performances at festivals like Coachella, demonstrate her impressive range and influence in the music industry.
