Feenixpawl & Marcus Santoro Unite For Prog Anthem, ‘Forever Young’

Two of the most underrated names in the progressive scene have collaborated for a melodic gem, released via the main Armada label. Feenixpawl and Marcus Santoro have both dropped hit productions in 2019 (Lighter Than Air and a remix of Nicky Romero’s My Way respectively) and this single will undoubtedly add to their already stacked individual repertoires.

The song begins with a deep, groovy progressive trance intro, with a gritty bassline of the kind you’d expect on Anjunabeats or Enhanced Progressive. The intro morphs into a breakdown, with the lush, serene vocals from singer/songwriter Robin Valo taking the lead. An enchanting atmosphere developed with warm atmospheric pads gives way to a melodic drop of immense proportions. A fluttery lead takes listeners’ breath away, while the melody meshes beautifully with the vocal topline.

This track is a testament to both artists’ knacks for melody, as it doesn’t boast complex production, but instead delivers with its melodic charm. While only four major melodic layers are audible in the tune (the vocals, the pads, the arpeggio and the lead), they harmonize so elegantly that you don’t need much else. It’s this elegance which earned Forever Young a spot on the main Armada label, which is generally aimed toward more mainstream dance-pop tunes.

This tune is featured on the author’s weekly curated New Music Friday playlist.
