Guns N’ Roses: A Video Podcast Launching Soon About the First 50 Gigs

Marc Canter, childhood best friend with Guns N’ Roses members Slash and Axl Rose, is now preparing to launch a video podcast called ‘GNR: The First 50 Gigs’. The video podcast, launched in early 2021, provides a first-hand account of the origins of Guns N’ Roses, the band’s rise on the Sunset Strip and the making of ‘Appetite for Destruction’.

Marc Canter’s tweet in February 2021 states:

UPDATE: The first two episodes of GNR: The First 50 Gigs have officially been recorded and are in post-production. We can’t wait to share them with you. For now, here is a snippet of Episode 1. For more information on this project, subscribe here: http://newsletter.first50gigs.com

Guns N’ Roses, often abbreviated as GNR, is an American hard rock band, formed in 1985. Their popularity skyrocketed and they sold more than 100 million records worldwide, including 45 million in the USA. This makes Guns N’ Roses one of the best-selling acts in history. Apart from selling records, there is a documentary about the rock band that was released in 2007 and even an official slot game from NetEnt that can be found on some of the top websites that offer online gambling in Canada and other big markets like 7Bit Casino.

Canter photographed the band’s journey on the Sunset Strip such as Slash’s garage bands in 1981 and when the band released ‘Appetite’. The photographs end on their first international tour with The Cult in 1987.

Together with Canter, Jason Porath, will also be hosting this series and giving his unique outlook on the band’s first 50 gigs. Porath was Marc’s right-hand man in co-writing his book, ‘Reckless Road’. For more Guns N’ Roses material, ‘Reckless Road’ that was published in America in 2008, contains interviews with Slash, Steven Adler and Duff McKagan, as well as fans, failed producers and former managers and bandmates of the band.

Canter claims that the band originally broke up because Slash and Duff wrote new songs in 1995 and Axl refused to sing on all but three or four songs. This led Slash to pursue a solo venture. ‘GNR: The First 50 Gigs’ is a unique opportunity for fans to relive the band’s origin story and the group’s rise to becoming the Most Dangerous Band in the World. The first two episodes in the series podcast have already been recorded and are now in post-production.
