Australia has been the birthplace of many talented artists and their uncompromising creativity. The isolated continent, the multitude of landscapes, various cities that speckle the coast, and — lest we forget — the many townships that span the 2.97 million mi² or 7.692 million km² of land give rise to and inspire a creative force and ideation that is as unique as the continent itself. It’s given us current acts such as Tame Impala (Kevin Parker), Flume, and SIA. It’s also given us legendary acts like AC/DC, Kylie Minogue, and INXS. These examples barely scratch the surface of the many Australian artists that have shaped the global cultural landscape. Two acts that are following in the footsteps of the legends from the Land Down Under and creating their own cultural waves are a brother-sister duo, Lastlings, and ARIA-nominated Torren Foot.
Lastlings and Torren Foot both deserve our attention for their ingenious electronic-based sounds. Lastlings has made waves via RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue and Astralwerks. Their most recent singles, “Last Breath” and “Take My Hand”, have been a breath of fresh air and have illuminated an act poised for stardom.
Torren Foot has climbed the Australian and global DJ world with the support of Sweat It Out. His single “More Life” was released at the backend of 2019 where it exploded into a massive record that was #1 on the Beatport chart for five weeks and was Triple J’s most played single. It was nearly impossible to not hear it in DJ sets, which — anecdotally speaking — set crowds into a frenzy of excitement.
Now the two acts have teamed-up, which sees Torren Foot provide a sultry thumping remix of “Take My Hand”. It’s undeniably beautiful and has an emotive quality that will stick to your soul. It is why we decided to do something special to mark the release. We had Lastlings and Torren Foot choose their favorite remixes from their fellow Australians and tell us a little bit about why they choose each record. It gives us a bit more insight into their artistry, what inspires them, and some hints to what we may hear from their future records. We’re huge fans of Ry X, both his solo stuff and his project Howling. This remix with Âme is so beautiful I feel like I could listen to it over and over again and never get sick of it.
Foals – The Runner (RÜFÜS DU SOL Remix)
Foals was one of my favourite bands growing up and RÜFÜS DU SOL quickly became one of my favourite electronic groups as well, so naturally this ticked all the boxes for us. Makes me feel like I’m running through the jungle.
Lastlings – Take My Hand (Torren Foot Remix)
Big Club Heater! We wish dancefloors were still open so people could get down to it. I remember ditching Uni study with my best friend to go watch Torren DJ at this day party called NautiC Giants. Those were the days! Editor note: you can choose where to stream by following the link here
RÜFÜS DU SOL – Underwater (Willaris. K Remix)
We love RÜFÜS DU SOL and Willaris. K so this is a great match up. Willaris. K’s production is amazing and the long brooding breakdown in the middle is just so beautiful.
Lastlings – Deja Vu (Luke Alessi Remix)
This remix is one of our favourite remixes of one of our own tracks. We’ve played this in some really special DJ sets at Coachella like our DoLaB performance and before the RÜFÜS DU SOL ‘Underwater’ video premiere in the HP Dome.

Late Nite Tuff Guy – I Get Deeper (Cassian Rework)
The original is one the top 5 basslines ever written IMO, and Cassian then comes through with his magic fairy dust, and we end up with an Australian house music, dance floor anthem sandwich.
Feist – Gatekeeper (Lewie Day Remix)
This is a timeless, Melbourne masterpiece. Very simple, very pure. Clean bassline, great vocal…classic.
SG Lewis ft. Ruel – Flames (Lastlings Remix)
Massive fan of SG & Ruel. Lastlings additional production is 10/10 and ever tasteful. Love it.
MK & Sonny Fodera – One Night (Dom Dolla Remix)
Dom is my boy, and he went to town on this remix! I first heard him play it live and it was a real WHAT THE HELL IS THIS moment. I asked him afterwards what it was, he sent it to me, and I’ve been in love ever since.
Sage the Gemini – Gas Pedal (Motez Edit)
I’d say I played this every show for a year straight when it first came out, haha this edit is so steezy, thanks for giving it to us ’tez!
