Mau P Continues To Prove His Talent With Single ‘Dress Code’

Growing up, Maurits Westveen, aka Mau P, was surrounded by music. His mom’s jazz tunes and dad’s saxophone jams filled their home, making a future in music almost a given. But life threw a curveball when he lost his dad at 18. Instead of getting lost in the grief, Westveen channeled his passion into the music.

His love affair with electronic music started as a kid in a music store. He stumbled upon deadmau5’s 2009 LP, For Lack of a Better Name, and it was love at first sound. Fast forward to “Drugs From Amsterdam,” and you’ve got a track that not only catapulted Mau P into the spotlight but also held a special place in his heart.

Before hitting the big time with his music, Westveen was the go-to guy for nightclub flyer designs. Those same clubs spotted his DJ talent and gave him a shot behind the decks. His design gig even scored him a sweet spot at a local music festival, marking his first big show. And let’s not forget: the visuals for his Mau P project? Yep, that’s his own handy work too.

Now, with “Dress Code” dropping on Chris Lake’s Black Book Records, it’s clear Mau P’s still got plenty of grooves up his sleeve. This track, loaded with catchy synths and incredible basslines, is all about being yourself and dancing like no one’s watching.

In a nutshell, Westveen’s journey tells us this: Stay true to yourself, rock out to your own beat, and never forget where you came from. The world of house music wouldn’t be the same without him.
