Foreign Family Label-Mates MEMBA And EVAN GIAA Link Up On “Walls Down”

In an epic week of new music, today we discovered NY-based production duo MEMBA aka Ishaan Chaudhary and Will Curry are back with a new record featuring EVAN GIIA via ODESZA’s imprint Foreign Family. The two artists have been frequent collaborators which means they both understand the vision for each others projects when they make music and that always seems to lead to something special.

MEMBA in their own right are innovative instrumentalists known for creating multi-sensory experiences that take listeners on a trip that goes beyond sonic waves. Together with label-mate EVAN GIIA on “Walls Down” they wrote a bass winding single and on it the trio takes a deeper dive into their darker sounds, exploring uncharted territory in a tune that showcases their unconventional approach to breaking through today’s electronic music landscape.

On the story behind the collaboration MEMBA note “Walls Down took us a while because we wrote it twice – initially it was much faster. We showed it to EVAN GIIA and she immediately understood the direction of the song. She wrote the lyrics and recorded the final version in a few hours… in her bathroom. We usually re-track but there was this sauce in the original delivery that we just loved. Months passed and it didn’t really hit for us production wise, so we decided to V2 it. We started the entire thing from scratch and were possessed to write the version you hear today. We are super glad we were patient with this one. It feels so right now.”

EVAN GIIA is an innovative artists and delivers a funky yet sophisticated vocal sound, she has quickly found an audience as success as a solo artist, and having entering into music as a classically trained opera singer it adds a unique touch to her alt-pop sound. Amassing millions of streams across releases such as “WESTWORLD”, “Pull Up” and Her latest hit “I Don’t Like Ur Friends” she has received support from BBC Radio 1 and a coveted #1 spot on HypeMachine.

“Walls Down” is taken from MEMBA’s forthcoming audiovisual EP titled SAGA-II, which is set for release in summer 2019 via Foreign Family Collective and includes 7 tracks. The track has already become a crowd favourite across their impressive live performances this year and that is no small statement given they have graced the stage at Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, Sundara, and soon, Splash House and Elements Festival.
