The passing of Avicii in April of 2018 has been difficult for the dance music community, it impacted people far and wide and started important conversations around mental health. Now fans who adored him and the artist who were close to him to have a chance to come together for a special event to give him one last show.

Following the release of the posthumous album ‘TIM’, Aloe Blacc hinted at the event but today it’s been officially unveiled. The tribute concert held for the late Tim Berg will take place on December 5th at the Friends Arena in his home city of Stockholm, Sweden.

Many of his closest musical friends and collaborators will grace the stage (full list below), among the performances, there will be a two-hour headlining set of his original music performed by collaborators such as Rita Ora and Aloe Blacc along with a 30-piece band. It is going to be the first time many of the ‘TIM’ songs are performed live.

“Tim had plans for his music to be performed together with a large live band, and now we are realizing his dream and giving fans a chance to experience his music in this unique way,” says Klas Bergling, Tim’s father.

From DJ’s to vocalists – it is a perfect representation of the people he worked with throughout his illustrious career. From acts who consider Avicii to be a role model to acts who collaborated many years ago – these are the best acts to be brought together to celebrate the life of one of the best dance producers that has ever lived.

During the two-hour live concert, the singers who participated in Avicii’s biggest songs – artists such as Aloe Blacc, Rita Ora, Adam Lambert and Sandro Cavazza, and others – will perform Avicii’s original songs together with a 30-man band. The concert starts at 16:00 with artists on stage from 17.00.

“Tim had plans for his music to be performed together with a large live band. Now we are realizing his dream and giving the audience and listeners a chance to experience Tim’s songs in a truly unique way. ” says Klas Bergling.

“We are grateful that his friends, artists and musicians whom he worked with during his career come to Stockholm and help us to realize this tribute concert. They have all expressed a sincere interest and desire to get involved in trying to stop the rise of mental illness, and give their support in our work with the Tim Bergling foundation. We are very much looking forward to this evening.”

This concert announcement has tied in with the launch of the Tim Berg Foundation, the charity Avicii’s parents started after his death. All proceeds from the festival will be going to the foundation and it’s very likely all artists are performing for free. This is another incredible tribute for Avicii, his legacy needs to stay alive and this will help it. It will most definitely be an emotional event, but uplifting all the same.

Tickets will go on sale Thursday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. CET. There is a ticket page up if you want to check it later to see if there’s any update.

A few months ago, Kygo returned to New York, this time during Pride Month. He premiered his new live concept; ‘UTOPIA’. The event included performances from Kiiara, Cirque du Soleil, JHART, Danny Verde, and more.

The event benefited multiple LGBTQ organisations such as Stonewall Gives Back InitiativeLIFEBeat, and the Trevor Project

“I’m honored to play. supporting the LGBTQ community is very important to me. I’ve been excited for a while to announce this one, and can’t wait to put on a very special show.” – Kygo said before the June show.

Kygo is a class act, and this further solidifies that!

Kygo Drops Surprise Posthumous Whitney Houston Featuring “Higher Love”

Kygo revealed earlier this week a cryptic cover of the artwork for his new release “Higher Love” which now he has revealed features previously unreleased vocals from the early 90’s recorded by Whitney Houston. Initially meant for her album at the time, the version didn’t make the final cut and sat locked up until now according to a short clip shared by Kygo as a teaser video for the release.

Following on from Rita Ora featuring “Carry On”, Kygo’s added his signature chilled melodic tropical flavour to the powerful vocals, turning it into a summer sounds that brings Houston’s iconic voice to life for the first time following the singers tragic passing in 2012.

Remix Radar 006: Featuring Yotto, Silk City, and Nicky Romero

We’re back, back again! I am excited to bringing you the sixth edition of CULTR’s Remix Radar. This week is piping hot with sizzling tunes from Yotto, Silk City, Nicky Romero and a few others to tempt your eardrums into ecstasy. Without further ado, Remix Radar 006.

Rüfüs Du Sol – Solace (Remixes, Vol. 6)

Good lord, prepare yourself for an eargasm. Volume 6 of Rüfüs Du Sol’s Solace Remix pack is mystifying as if one were a solitary drifter on a synthwave sojourn across the solar system. It’s that GOOD.

Willaris. K sent chills down my spine with his enchanting, yet raw “Underwater” remix. The Australian just premiered a new music video for his “Cobaki Sky” via Complex, which is a very compelling visual piece.

Finnish-maestro, Yotto, also supplies two remixes, a “Dusk” and “Dawn” version of “Underwater”. Both reworks are as sultry and mesmerizing as we come to expect from Yotto. The “Dusk” version is a bit sexier with 80s synth overtones , while the “Dawn” version is a bit prettier and melodic.

10/10 remix pack.

Robyn – Missing U (Silk City & Picard Brothers Remix)

Queen of dance pop, Robyn, serves as the perfect muse to Silk City and Picard Brothers’ remix of “Missing U”. Diplo and Mark Ronson’s Silk City with Parisian brother duo, Picard Brothers, construct a cool, sleek vibrance packed with an attitude perfect for the global club scene.

The Picard Brothers appear to be unknowns on first glance. However, the brothers have served as the brains for many blockbuster projects including Diplo and Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, Kehlani and Jessie J.

Vanilla Ace & Ayarez – I Percolate (JoJo Angel Remix)

This delightful tech-house tune came out a few weeks ago and it deserves some recognition. JoJo Angel doesn’t shy away from creating something unique and daring with his “I Percolate” remix. The Greek producer steals all the spotlight from the original and percolates the senses with this one.

KYANU – Higher off the Ground (ESH Remix)

The Vienna-native, ESH, removes layers of prettiness from KYANU’s “Higher off the Ground” in his grime-laced remix perfect for insomniacs that need an extra kick. The remix is doused in darkness and bass giving the original an awe-inspiring facelift.

Kygo & Rita Ora – Carry On (Nicky Romero Remix)

Nicky Romero conjures blissful memories of the glory days of EDM with his take on Kygo & Rita Ora’s “Carry On”. Listen to this remix when you need to feel the warmth and happiness of 2012 EDM.

Pinkfong – Baby Shark (Jauz Remix)

This song will be the reason that your 4 year-old niece wears neon and raves harder than you do. Besides the meme-ability, Jauz does create something rather cool and does provide something new for listeners to chomp on.

Honestly, I am surprised it took this long for Jauz to do a remix of “Baby Shark”.

Ben Pearce Ft. Tayla – Fireproof (Club Mix)

Not a remix by traditional sense. However, Ben Pearce’s club mix of his “Fireproof” is an addictive deep house track that I can’t get enough. The club mix has an additional vocal chop and a crisp groove that provides a little more spice to the ears than the original. Add this to your day and evening party playlist.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

YACHT – Psychic City (Classixx Remix)

This week’s One From The Vault might be one of my favorite tracks and the perfect remedy to a bad day. From 2010, Classixx reworks YACHT’s “Psychic City” into a psychedelic, funkalicious jam that is driven by an alluring bass line and delightful synth chords that radiate soothing waves of sound. This remix definitely helped to catapult both artists into the spotlight and help get them to where they are now. Definitely a classic piece of electronic music.

0

Norwegian electronic talent Kygo is an undeniable global hitmaker. Today he’s revealed his newest gem “Not Ok” which features famed Connecticut based artist and vocalist Chelsea Cutler.

The release of “Not Ok’“ follows Kygo’s ‘Think About You” with Valerie Broussard and Rita Ora featuring “Carry On”. which is the the soundtrack for the recent blockbuster Pikachu Detective.

Chelsea Cutler meanwhile comes off the back of her joint EP release “brent” with Jeremy Zucker released via Republic Records on-top string of standout features and performances around the globe.

“Not Ok” is an emotionally charged melancholic masterpiece, built around Kygo’s signature piano’s and blended perfectly with Cutler’s enchanting delicate vocals.

The track sheds a summer sounding vibes and will no doubt be a staple in his live sets with fans singing along word for word – we hope to see Chelsea perform it on stage soon too.

Kygo’s last Album/EP “Kids In Love” was released over two years ago and fans are hoping the ramped up musical output is a sign of a third full-length offering due out sooner than later. With many hoping, he will explore his roots and others interested to hear him continue to experiment.

If you’ve not come across Cutler’s soft sensibilities delivered in her wildly popular flavour of Indie Pop, look to her hit collaborations such as ‘Stay’ with Chet Porter and ‘Slow Down Love’ with Louis The Child.

However, Cutler’s features only scratch the surface of her impressive body of work, with her originals on “brent” and her two-part album “Sleeping With Roses” having amassed global support building up her dedicated army of supporters.
