Sydney Premier Vows To Stop Defqon.1 After Two Deaths

0

With Defqon.1 taking place last Saturday, the Sydney Premier has vowed to ban the festival after two individuals died from drugs. Of all festivals, it’s expected that Defqon.1 would have the most trouble with drugs. Even though this is the case, it’s not fair that Defqon should be stopped. The festival does not allow drugs. Mrs. Gladys Berejiklian (New South Wales Premier) needs to understand that these individuals made the choice to take drugs – they knew the risk. If pill testing was deployed at this festival, countless lives would’ve been saved. People take bad drugs only because they do not know they are bad. People will take drugs no matter what, people are ok with the risks.

The Premier does not mention any bans of alcohol. Defqon has indirectly caused two deaths, however alcohol killed 1837 people in NSW in 2014, a little over 5 people a day. A massive drug-fuelled party has caused 2 deaths and it occurs annually, whilst alcohol kills over 5 people a day and thats not event specific.

The NSW government is out of touch, after introducing lock-out laws a few years ago, Sydney’s nightlife is basically dead, apart from their casino unsurprisingly.

San Holo Unleashes New Single Ahead of Debut Album

0

San Holo’s debut album release is only a week away, and he’s now dropped another single in the form of “forever free” with Duskus. The new collaboration hints at the depth in which San’s sought to perfect on ‘album1’, creating melancholic driving exploration over more than 6 minutes.

Accompanying previous releases “lift me from the ground” / “worthy” and “brighter days” with Bipolar Sunshine, this debut album is shaping up to be an expressive master piece from the Dutch producer.

San also has dropped a mini mix courtesy of his hometown radio kingpin SLAM FM which includes several ID’s and some of the songs that have helped him in his rise to mass awareness such as ‘Light’. The full album is set to drop September 21 and we’re excited to sit back and absorb it in it’s full form as the collective story San has worked hard to craft together for us.

Miami Residents Threaten Ultra’s Use Of Baypark

0

Residents of the Miami bay have reportedly launched an attempt to either refuse or restrict the use the Bayfront Park from mass events, with a clear target on Ultra Music Festival. According to reddit user @FL21, A newsletter sent out (pictured below) to city residents boasts that a group have reportedly won over three of five commissioners for an upcoming vote on the venue’s contract.

Ultra’s representatives today won a deferred the vote on the issue which is now scheduled for the 27th of September. It is unclear what the vote will mean for Ultra or their ability to use the Bay Park at this stage. Launching in 1999 the festival has grown to become the main attraction of Miami Music Week and the Winter Music Confrence.

The festival has moved between Bicentennial park and the Baypark several times, and this is not the first time they have encountered oppositions from commissioners. When Ultra moved to two weekends it was argued the closures required would be “disruptive to the local business community and area residents due to noise, nuisance behavior of festival goers, and grid lock traffic”. Forbes, suggested that Ultra has been predicted to generate upwards of over $200 million in some years.

Considering the event brings a significant injection from tourism related spending, we assume local representatives will carefully make these decisions. Officials also stated that the recent 2018 edition of Ultra was the “safest” in recent years, reporting only 27 arrests and no “major” incidents.

Ultra has now expanded into Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, South Africa, Mexico, India and Croatia but hasn’t been without issues. They also reportedly have plans for new editions in California, China and Russia in 2019.

0

After being teased for a while, highly anticipated Martin Garrix ID now known as ‘Burn Out’ is finally seeing the light of day. The track sees him team up with long time friend Justin Mylo and recruits vocalist Dewain Whitmore. Martin has shown this year he’s not being confined to one sound jumping from the widely received crossover ‘Ocean’ featuring Khalid to his classic progressive sound on ‘High On Life’ Bonn, one thin is for sure it’s definitely shaping up to be a good year for Garrix.

The track is a signature Garrix sound, with a progressive structure, euphoric chords all put together by an uplifting melody. This will be Mylo’s and Garrix second joint release since 2015’s ‘Bouncybob’ with Mesto, which peaked on US charts. Burn Out’ is out now on Martin Garrix’ own imprint STMPD Records.

RayRay Drops Debut EP ‘Purple Alien’ On Barong Family

With Dance Music’s rapid global rise we’ve seen talent pop up from all corners of the globe, however when it comes to Asia only a small hand full of artists have successfully found an audience worldwide. Among those leading the charge to change that is Taiwan based Artist RayRay who dropped her debut EP ‘Purple Alien’ today on Yellow Claw’s powerhouse imprint Barong Family.

RayRay’s previous releases include tracks with the likes of Stoltenhoff and Josh Pan, she also impressively took out the top prize at the Red Bull Thre3style competition and is an alumni of the Red Bull Academy. She’s since performed at iconic festivals such as Tomorrowland, SXSW, ADE, Glastonbury and Sonar Music in Barcelona whilst also keeping a busy schedule including of the biggest festivals and clubs across Asia.

The ‘Purple Alien’ EP is an impressive debut and see’s the talented producer blend her style across four hard hitting tracks and enlisting a global roster of her talented friends including vocalists from five different countries.

Leading with the heavy hitting ‘Ninja’, an infectiously catchy collaboration with Canadian duo Crisis Era and RayRay hops on the mic herself. It’s followed up by ‘Bang Bang’ a twerked out anthem featuring Dutch MC Emy Perez, and additional production from Caribbean producer Menasa. Then on ‘Like That’ RayRay recruit’s heavy hitting dutch producer Gianni Marino and Hong Kong rapper Shimica, which starts off a relatively slow hip hop track before showing it’s true colours transitioning into a fierce second drop. Lastly the EP closes out with a jackin’ house heater primed for clubs with Parisian prince and Barong label-mate Slowbody.

ODESZA Reward ‘Loyal’ Fans With This Highly Anticipated Song

0

If you have been fortunate enough to catch Seattle duo ODESZA perform live over the past few years, not only should you consider yourself lucky but there is also a high chance you have heard this song before.

Initially appearing in 2015, the bass weapon became a secret gem for their shows that was introduced to many as an encore. The high energy trap horns on ‘Loyal’ hit harder than their most well known productions and as a result it continued to catch many fans off guard, generating a lot of hype over the years.

The initial version was thought of as a remix of Alex Adair’s “Make Me Feel Better” due to the use of the tracks iconic vocal sample, but it was in-fact created as an original song. The official release is without the iconic sample and some have suggested they tried to get the clearance and weren’t able to reach an agreement.

Many fans never thought we’d see an official release after all this time, so for die hard ODESZA fans you could say this one is a treat from the duo for being ‘Loyal’.

Top 5: Unreleased Martin Garrix Tracks

0

From the age of 16 years old, Martin Garrix has had a significant impact on the dance music scene like no other. From his breakthrough hit ‘Animals’ to tracks such as ‘In The Name of Love’ and ‘Scared To Be Lonely’, Garrix has proven a lot in just a small time frame. That being said, there seems to be no sign of him slowing down anytime soon. With tonnes of unreleased ID’s to his name; being teased at festivals and on podcasts, Martin Garrix has definitely got people hungry for more.

Martin Garrix & Ed Sheeran – Rewind Repeat It

This collaboration, if it ever sees the light of day, would undeniably be a massive hit. It would definitely be one of Martin’s biggest releases. However, Garrix has stated that there were “label issues and a lot of headaches” and that “It was going to be an official track, so we postponed all my other singles, but the label delayed the track because they wanted to release other tracks from Ed first. At one point, it was two years ago, I didn’t release a radio single for five, six months. So, then you get annoyed. So, I don’t think we’re ever going to release the track.”

Let’s hope that all parties involved can come to an agreement to allow this incredible record to finally see an official release!

Martin Garrix & Hardwell – Music Box

Going all the way back to 2014, Hardwell showed off this one to the Tomorrowland crowd. With the break melodies coming from Martin Garrix and the drop from Hardwell, it seems like the perfect collaboration. There have been updated versions played out, giving the fans some hope that one day it will be released, fingers crossed!

Martin Garrix & Linkin Park – Waiting For Tomorrow

With this being a collaboration with Linkin Park, Martin Garrix announced around the time of Linkin Parks’ lead singer Chester Bennington unfortunate death that the track would be delayed indefinitely. This track is also known to be a collaboration with Pierce Fulton, it’s unknown whether or not he would be featured due to his recent change in music style.

Martin Garrix – Chinatown

This solo production from Martin Garrix was premiered at Ultra Miami 2017 and has only been played a handful of times since. It’s an excellent record, with some aspects being similar to his track ‘Oops‘. This track still has potential to be released, let’s hope it out soon!

Martin Garrix & Axwell /\ Ingrosso – ID

In an interview two years ago, Martin was asked about a potential collaboration with Axwell Ingrosso after teasing it online.

His response; “You’ll find out at Ultra [laughs]. I’m back in the studio with Ingrosso and Axwell tomorrow actually. We’re finishing up a track. We’re not happy with the drop yet. I may play it at Ultra, we’ll see how much work we get done. But yeah, we’re working on something and I’m really excited about it.”

With no news since and no knowledge of any public plays of the potential track, it seems unlikely that anything was finished. Let’s hope this can be revived and they can get back to the ideas they already conceptualised.

These were only 5 of the many unreleased tracks that Martin Garrix has under his belt. With all this music, at least we know there will never be a long music drought from the Martin Garrix camp. Let’s hope some aren’t dead and will see the light of day.

Dance Music Reacts To Hardwell’s Retirement

0

With the news breaking last night that Dutch artist and multiple #1 DJ Hardwell will be indefinitely retiring from touring as well as concluding any deadlines including releases and other obligations for a period of time.  You can read his announcement here.

Many artists have shown support for Hardwell, commenting on his Instagram and Facebook as well as doing separate posts. With most of it being positive support, deadmau5, on the other hand, wasn’t as nice.
