Afrojack Releases Club Focused EP ‘Press Play’

0

If you’re not a fan of Afrojack’s commercial music, you are going to like this EP. The ‘Press Play’ EP includes exactly what made Afrojack; electro dutch styled music. Every single track is a hard hitting club record, that will definitely go down well in Afrojack’s sets. It is quite surprising that he has decided to release this under his ‘Afrojack’ moniker, as he usually reserves hard tracks for his NLW (Nick van de Wall) alias.

Here’s what Afrojack has to say about his exciting new release:

“For me, this was more of a journey to show a different side of me with the different styles of music I’ve been doing. I’ve been playing a lot of tracks with the new artists I signed to my label in my sets, so it made sense to put out all of the music fans have been hearing since Ultra this year on the EP. You’ll hear familiar and unfamiliar sounds with some great artists and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it all.”

As you can see by the songs listed below, the EP includes collaboration with fellow friend and frequent collaborator, MC Ambush. As well as music together with Jewelz & Sparks, BROHUG, Titus, Chaser, Chico Rose (Ravitez), DISTO, Ricky Breaker and the last track of the EP with Oliver Twizt & Angger Dimas.

Kill The Noise A Victim Of Hit & Run In New York

0

Jacob Stanczak aka Kill The Noise was unfortunately involved in a hit and run today. Luckily, no major injuries occurred. With the injuries happening primarily to the individual in the backseat, who according to Kill The Noise’s tweets, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Kill The Noise had to spend the night in the ER. However, he has turned this negative experience around, stating that it was inspiring to observe the ER staff deal with “layer of reality that most of us only would have to experience very rarely”. Thankfully, Kill The Noise made it to NYC for his set at Electric Zoo.

Well spent the entire night in the ER after a group of us were involved in a hit and run but everyone is ok, one thing I gotta say is always wear ur seatbelt even if ur in the backseat the only person who got hurt was sitting in the back seat

Avicii’s Website Updated As ‘The Avicii Memory Board’

0

Avicii’s family has updated the Avicii website to become the official memory board. Fans can write their favourite memories of Avicii and be presented on the website. The website states:

Tim created music that brought people together with timeless memories from all over the world.

We created this space so you could share your memories with all of us and let the world know what Avicii meant to you.

His music and your memories are forever.

Another interesting piece of information is in the website’s privacy policy. Some Reddit-tors saw the dot point in the screenshot below and have theorized that a possible music video of his unreleased music would include the messages on the memory board.

You can leave a memory of your own on Avicii’s website here

Lowlands: One Of The 2018 Summer Highlights

0

When it comes to creating a great mixed music and art festival, this year’s curation of Lowlands was one of the best. Lowlands festival is situated in the Netherlands in the small village of Biddinghuizen, about an hour’s drive from Amsterdam. The camping festival was spread across a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in late August with Gorillaz, N.E.R.D, and Kendrick Lamar headlining each day respectively.

Multiple stages meant different genres for every music fan’s taste. From singer songwriter Marlon Williams to soul performances by Jacob Banks and Rag’n’Bone Man. Pop fans were blessed with Dua Lipa and James Bay. Stormzy brought a high energy grime set and electronic fans were spoilt with a wide variety of performances which included Bonobo, Zhu, San Holo, Mr. Carmack, Jarreau Vandal, Yaeji, Maribou State, George Fitzgerald (Live) and Sophie. Hip hop fans saw De La Soul, Little Simz, BROCKHAMPTON, and $UICIDEBOY$. Thunderpussy, The Wombats, and The War On Drugs, headed up the rock genre. Legends like Nile Rodgers & Chic and Patti Smith packed out the Bravo tent during their performances. There were around 250 acts total. To check out this year’s full line up, check out http://lowlands.nl/programma/

All in all Lowlands brings together generations and should be on your 2019 calendar if you are in Europe. The festival has been running for 25 years and the experience shows when it comes to the Lowlands team. An air quality control plan was implemented which involved putting down mulch to control the dust that comes along with 55,000 people walking around each day. Air quality control is an essential part of running so this deserves an honourable mention. The festival was wonderful, I had an amazing time, and I cannot wait to visit again.

Calvin Harris Reveals Why He Doesn’t Tour Anymore

0

Whilst promoting his new track with Sam Smith, Calvin Harris was promted with a question regarding the comparison between studio and tour life. Apart from his Las Vegas residencies, Calvin Harris has not done any extensive tours in quite some time. Apparently, Calvin’s lack of touring is due to his age, stating on the Boogie & Arlene radio show:

“I’ve done tours before but for me, I think my personal strength is in the studio — It’s what I enjoy the most.”

“But a tour? No way. I can’t do tours any more. I’m too old.”

It’s a surprising reason behind why he has stopped touring, Calvin Harris sits at 34 years old. Age hasn’t stopped other artists, with DJ’s such as Laidback Luke still constantly touring at 41, David Guetta at 50, Armin Van Buuren at 41, Diplo at 39 and countless others older than Calvin.

With his commercial success, there really isn’t a financial need for Calvin Harris to tour. You can listen to his brand new collaboration with Sam Smith embedded below.
