Mt. Sierra Returns For Last Song Of The Year ‘When You Hold It Down’

Mt. Sierra has poured the essence of what he’s all about into his now complete 4-track EP and in particular “When You Hold It Down.” Juxtaposing a somber, introverted energy that his earlier teases embodied, his 4th of 5 releases from this EP style a chipper, positive feel that instantly sends a good mood into the room.

“‘When You Hold It Down’ is another song I made mid-pandemic last year as I was wrapping up my time at Icon. It originally started as a homework project for my piano class, and evolved once I found the vocal i centered the track around”.

Built on the platform of progressive house music, Mt. Sierra shows off his chops is an impressive manner on this one. Striking a balance between the club-centered rave culture and the sensibilities of commercial pop, tie in some vocal work to top things off and you have a track oozing with a memorable essence.

This is far from Mt. Sierra’s first track. He previously released music under another alias, titled Matt Yo, where more development took place that helped strengthen the sonic quality fans get to be apart of today.

“I was feeling pretty clever, and appreciative of some of the people in my life at the time, so I worked my magic, and changed some sounds around, messed with the vocal phrasing, and ‘When You Hold It Down’ is the finished product.”

Expect the last single of Mt. Sierra EP soon, until then, dive into the fresh energy this collection has to offer.
