Fresh off the success of her debut single “Motion Sickness,” which arrived in late 2020, Tara Jam is back with her second release, creating a captivating narrative and showcasing her talents perfectly with “Invade My Space.” The single comes alongside an eye-catching music video, as well as a breathtaking artwork that Tara Jam shot and creatively directed herself. Filled with layers of warm synths, minimal drums and soothing vocal harmonies, “Invade My Space“ is undoubtedly a stunner, and certainly the first of many hits Tara Jam has lined up for this year.
“Invade My Space” is a song about emotional, physical, and psychological space needed from oneself or another figure—I want it to be open to interpretation,” explains Tara Jam about the meaning behind the song. “I wrote this song while crammed at the back of a van in rural Nepal on my way to Kathmandu city from The Hospital and Rehabilitation Center for Disabled Children (HRDC) (I highly recommend checking out the inspiring work they do). On that trip, I was able to find space in the hollowness of the intermountain basins and valleys from the swarming streets of the densely populated capital. This range of landscape and environment allowed me to discover that even in the most congested of cities, I can make room to breathe. I had the privilege of taking a break from the overwhelming hustle and bustle and of being reminded of the luxury and significance of protecting your energetic field.”
The meaning behind her name “tara” is “star,” perfectly describing Tara Jam as an artist and creator. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, director, and photographer, Tara Jam likes to keep herself involved throughout the entire process of her art’s creation. Her debut single “Motion Sickness” amassed over 300k streams on Spotify and 500K views on YouTube, kickstarting an exciting career; we can’t wait to see what Tara Jam decides to drop next.
