Found This Week is a mix of music from chill tunes to club bangers discovered on Spotify, Apple Music and channels from around the globe. This week we’ve got new music featuring Martin Solveig, Tony Romera, R3hab, Diplo, GANZ and Don Diablo for your listening pleasure.
French superstar Martin Solveig brings out an infectiously catchy new summer anthem with “My Love”, the vocals with a touch of autotune catch you in an instant groove and we’ll be having this one on repeat all summer.
Don Diablo lays down his creative housey touch on a Summer anthem from newcomer Big Pineapple which has almost chill trance feel to it in some parts. Big Pineapple surfaced through Don’s socials a few weeks ago with a constant flow of pineapple related social shots and it’s said that Don Diablo translates into Big Pineapple in Chinese.
Australia’s pop sensation 5 Seconds of Summer have been on a winning streak of late, their new album Youngblood just took the #1 spot on the US albums chart beating out Jay Z & Beyonce. Now the group treats us to a remix from none other than R3HAB.
Diplo’s Calfornia EP today resurfaces with an epic remix pack with cuts from Jarreau Vandal, TWERL, Keys N Krates, QUIX and UKNOWN. However, it’s Tony Romera that ticks off the box for us. having recently made a big debut with his Bellwcour project on DJ Snake’s Premiere Classe he now delivers a tasty french electro re-work of the MØ, Goldlink featuring “Do it Right”.
GANZ (feat. CUT_) Slippin
Hollands GANZ recently resurfaced with “Lets Fly Away Together” featuring LUNA MAY and now the second single from his forthcoming EP on Dim Mak arrives. The delectable vocals of CUT_ built around GANZ’s euphoric chords and intricate bass filled drops serve a tasty treat.
We all know his songs, have seen him play but Diplo recently sat down with the Oxford Union while on tour in the UK and gave an interesting insight into his early days that you’ve never heard before. He also fields questions from the attendees in a Q&A session discussing both the business and creative side of music.
The Oxford Union is the world’s most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
Axwell / Ingrosso have been very quiet on the release front, but that’s all changed with the release of “Dancing Alone” featuring Romans. A track which they have been teasing out in their live sets over the past 6 months regularly. Stepping away from their usual pre-hype they’ve announced this one with less than 24 hours before it dropped.
The cover art is an interesting choice featuring an old picture of Paris Hilton but “Dancing Alone” is a unique track, with trance like synths, commercial vocals with a club friendly drop. It’s an all round quality production and as with many of Axwell / Ingrosso’s previous releases, this is sure to make its way onto dancefloors across the globe. Romans’ smooth vocals and catchy writing will definitely play a vital part in this record’s success.
Marshmellow’s Album Joytime II dropped last Friday and today we get the legendary visuals of Duck Tales characters jamming out “Fly”. The unexpected Disney collab pairs the recently revived show perfectly with the childlike sensibilities around the brand of Marshmellow.
While the album has had mixed reviews, it’s clear Marshmellow wasn’t going for a pop filled collab album like his recent singles but wanted to create a body of work that represents both where his sound started and what he wants to play in his sets.
Mackenzie Johnson, otherwise known as MAKJ; celebrates his 28th birthday today, the 25th of June.
In celebration of his birthday, we’ve gathered the top 5 MAKJ records. What do you think of the list, anything you would replace?
First up, ‘Party Till We Die’, a collaboration with Timmy Trumpet and Andrew W.K. on vocals. This track has blown up since its release back in 2016.
His second largest success, ‘Derp’ with close to 15 million streams on Spotify – still goes strong!
MAKJ just released the monster collaboration between Steve Aoki, Deorro, Max Styler and himself called ‘Shakalaka’. It’s out now through Ultra.
Arguably one of MAKJ’s most significant breakthrough tracks would be his collaboration with Hardwell. This was a massive track during the big room era.
Another collaboration, this time with Thomas Newson on Protocol. ‘Black’ embraces Newson’s sound with MAKJ’s touch added of course.

Found This Week is a mix of music from chill tunes to club bangers discovered on Spotify, Apple Music and channels from around the globe. This week we’ve got albums from two of dance music biggest acts and some great new music out of Australia.
Joining the long list of French producers setting the global standard in electronic music, Kungs is known for his global hit “This Girl”. He now provides us with an infectiously catchy club anthem on “Be Right Here” featuring Norwegian hit machine Stargate and vocalist GOLDN. The soothing vocals combined with crisp production has us betting it’s a summer hit. If you don’t know collaborators Stargate by name check out their discography including everyone from Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Sia.
Taken from Yellow Claw’s brand new album “New Blood”, this one popped up first spot on the Netherlands New Music Friday playlist . Having been introduced to Yade through Barong Family with songs such as ‘Invitation’ and her own single “Balcony” her soothing crisp vocals continue to delight. Teaming up with past collaborators Moksi and Yellow Claw together they’ve created a deliciously cool new record.
This one is a certified bop from 18 year old Melbourne artist Tyde Levi his top-level debut on Beats 1 by Zane Lowe. Goldchains is a masterfully produced future R&B and an exciting start for this young talent. His brother also happens to be Troye Sivan.
This fresh as hell bass joint from Sydney Producer Bro Carey lays down heavy sounds with a vibrant flow. The song reps a global talent list, from London MC Rez to verses from Australia’s Kwame and Boston based Raj Mahal. With Kwame already being on our list of ones to watch given he just got added to both Big Sound and Splendour In The Grass’ Line Up this one over delivers on quality and I wish it was even longer!
Having surfaced to #1 on the Hype Machine charts this week we have an attention-grabbing electronic bass anthem from down under. Encompassing pop elements with the soothing vocal building into intricate future bass drops that stand out from the pack. Having previously remixed David Guetta, Sia, Jonas Blue and Galantis it’s not surprising this ones laced with production perfection and delivers a solid sounding 2018 debut for the brother duo.
The tasty candy themed artist Marshmellow has returned with his highly anticipated second album Joytime II. Having dropped recent hits such as Silence and FRIENDS, the record delivers an array of tasty electronic treats that see him step out of his recent formula of pop crossover hits. One of the new songs, “Rooftop” has an almost Blink 182 meets 2018 feel to it and is said to be his own vocals.
Diplo continues to dominate music in 2018 like no other. On top of a highly succesfull EP featuring the likes of MØ, Santigold, Desiigner and Trippie Red, he’s also added two more artist projects including LSD with Sia & Labrinth and “Silk City” his newest project with Mark Ronson.
Fader labeled Diplo “pop music’s problem child” and you know what, we find it hard to disagree. The producer, all round creator and Mad Decent label head is a brand genius that has transcended genres, platforms and borders doing whatever he wants.
His musical breakouts include “Express Yourself”,”Where Are Ü Now” as Jack Ü ft. Justin Bieber” and of course ‘Lean On” with DJ Snake ft. MØ as Major Lazer that has surpassed a billion streams.
His diverse range of collaborators show his willingnes to expirement and surface new talent from all over the globe where he tours. Among them are names like Die Antwoord, J Balvin, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, No Doubt, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, CL, Tiesto, Don Diablo, Laidback Luke, Dillon Francis, Mike Posner, Boaz Van Da Beatz, Starrah, French Montana and Lil Pump.
But one could argue it his knack for finding forward thinking eclectic sounds and producers and bringing them together that has kept him to forefront of music for at least the past decade. Coupled with his long reign of the Diplo & Friends show on BBC Radio 1 and his recently launch metoric Revoloution Radio on Sirus XM he’s hosted festivals in Pakistan and partnered with brands such as Bacardí, Google, Deadpool and more.
He recently allowed James Van Der Baek to parody his life as a DJ in “What Would Diplo Do” which was accompanied by still ongoing parady Twtter that has had some internet beefs of its own. Despite his succes Diplo as he says didnt intend to become one of the scenes icons “it just happened”, and while he may not have meant to he is increasingly using his platform to educate and put out his own flavour worldwide.
Now teaming up with “Uptown Funk” producer Mark Ronson with the addition of a club orientated “Silk City” he is only set to continue his blending of dance culture, the duo launched their first single “Only Can Get Better” featuring Daniel Merriweather. with a premiere on BBC Radio 1 and an essential mix the following day and have reveleaed there will be a new song with Dua Lipa – who’s now had the longest running UK #1 in history with her Calvin Harris collab “One Kiss”.
