Remix Radar 005: Featuring Skrillex, Jauz, and Louis The Child

Remix Radar 005 coming in hot with vengeance. This week has a healthy dose of remixes from big-name producers with the likes of Skrillex, Louis The Child, Jauz and more serving up delicious beats.

Kelsey Lu – Due West (Skrillex Remix)

Kelsey Lu is a god damn national treasure. The North Carolina native deserves far more attention than what she’s garnered thus far. Who better to provide a spark than Skrillex. Master Sonny – who is also credited on the original “Due West” – flips the song into a shimmering, hypnotic summer track, perfect for the season and upcoming festivals.

Today, Skrillex also released the Dog Blood mini mix with Boys Noize. It’s a wild journey. Give it a listen after the “Due West” remix.

Death Cab For Cutie – I Dreamt We Spoke Again (Louis The Child Remix)

Louis The Child serve up a crisp, refreshing mojito-like remix of Death Cab For Cutie’s “I Dreamt We Spoke Again”. The duo opt for a melodic and chill vibed future bass styled remix, which is a nice change of pace for Louis The Child. This track is another one I expect to hear in many DJ sets this summer.

SHAED – Trampoline (Jauz Remix)

The song you know from an Apple commercial, SHAED’s “Trampoline” receives an unexpected twist from Jauz. Utilizing an old-school dubstep drop, Jauz breathes a timelessness into “Trampoline” and elevates it amongst the dubstep classics. SHAED’s vocals serve as the perfect muse for the dubstep styling.

Lemaitre – Smoke (Coucheron Remix)

If there is a genre known as “cute trap”, Coucheron’s remix of “Smoke” would be the quintessential track. The Grammy-nominated Norwegian producer provides a clear style and energy that shines through with a “cute vibe” drawing a spotlight on elements not common in stereotypical trap beats.

Oliver Heldens – This Groove (Codeko Remix)

Codeko has made quite a bit of noise since the dawning of 2019. He makes a triumphant return to our ears with a piano-laden house remix of Oliver Helden’s “This Groove”. True to the repeated vocal, this remix definitely “makes me wanna move” with a beating grove cemented to its core. This track is perfect for a special kind of party. Think Leonardo DiCaprio’s Great Gatsby party scene.

Deorro – Wild Like The Wind (Benny Benassi & DJ Licious Remix)

Legend of the decks, Benny Benassi teams-up with DJ Licious (who has been making noise on Don Diablo’s Hexagon Records) to remix Deorro’s “Wild Like The Wind”. The duo drizzle dystopian vibes into the veins of the original to maintain the essence of “Wild Like The Wind”, while constructing something new for listeners to munch on.

Above & Beyond Ft. Zoë Johnston – Alchemy (i_o Remix)

i_o conjures magic with his remix of Above & Beyond’s “Alchemy”. The mysterious producer evolves “Alchemy” into a post-apocalyptic techno beat with a tranquil edge fit for fans of both techno and trance.

MEDUZA Ft. Goodboys – Piece Of Your Heart (CYA Remix)

Clearly I can’t get enough of this track. The ultra popular “Piece Of Your Heart” receives another remix, this time from CYA. The duo spin MEDUZA’s hit single into a vibrant, atmospheric deep house tune. CYA utilize delicate synths and swelling bass to create an encapsulating sound design. The remix is perfect for fans of Lane 8, Yotto, and Anjunadeep.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

Konsequence – Bad Girl (Teen Daze Remix)

This week’s One From The Vault comes all the way from the year 2015. Burgeoning artist, Teen Daze creates a vibrant groove for, German brother duo, Konsequence’s “Bad Girl”. The song has an infectious beat and a delightful vocal that gently melts into the listener’s eardrums. A perfect song for daytime parties this summer.

Teen Daze has been making quite the noise in 2019. He is currently on his North American tour and put out his album, Bioluminescence, in April. I have really enjoyed the album and definitely suggest giving it a listen.

Cat Dealers Rework R3HAB and Icona Pop’s ‘This Is How We Party’

0

Brazilian duo Cat Dealers have remixed one of R3HAB’s biggest releases; ‘This Is How We Party‘ together with Swedish act Icona Pop.

Cat Dealers embrace their signature bass sound with this hard hitting remix. The edit keep the best parts of the original, specifically the hook from Icona Pop and builds upon it with a totally new production. With long progressing builds and a energetic drop, this remix would get a crazy reaction from festival go-ers.

With the original being a smashing success, this refresh from Cat Dealers will attract all the big room and harder music fans that might have skipped the initial release.

Cat Dealers’ banging remix of R3HAB & Icona Pop’s ‘This Is How We Party’ is out now through CYB3RPVNK

Remix Radar 004: Featuring NGHTMRE, Arman van Buuren, and Weiss

The fourth edition of CULTR’s Remix Radar is here to brighten your week and give your eardrums a nice, warm embrace with delicious beats.

Oliver Tree – Hurt (NGHTMRE Remix)

NGHTMRE unleashes the perfect chill with his ice-dripped remix of Oliver Tree’s “Hurt”. The rising star, fresh off a Coachella and an EDC performance, injects vibe-y-ness straight to the veins of Oliver’ Tree’s growling rawness. The culmination is a satisfying breathe into dance music.

Van Halen – Jump (Armin van Buuren Remix)

I did not expect to ever hear a remix of Van Halen. Fortunately for us, Armin van Buuren was entrusted to remix “Jump”. The legend keeps the original’s spirit and energy while adding an electronic bite. Perfect for introducing your parents to dance music.

Netsky – Iron Heart (Nu:Logic Remix)

Nu:Logic serve up a dazzling re-birth to Netsky’s “Iron Heart”. The remix originally made noise a few months prior when it was released by Record Day Store in vinyl exclusive form. The remix comes from legends of DnB, Dan Gresham (Nu:Tone) and Matt Gresham (Logistics) and is a space-y DnB morsel.

MEDUZA – Piece Of Your Heart Ft. Goodboys (Weiss Remix)

Weiss has made quite the stir in the last year with the ultra successful, “Feel My Needs” and his collaboration with Becky Hill, “I Could Get Used To This” on Universal. It’s safe to say Weiss is becoming a house sensation. He remains in our minds with his piano laden remix of smash hit “Piece Of Your Heart” by MEDUZA.

LSD – No New Friends (Dombresky Remix)

Diplo can do no wrong. His collaboration with SIA and Labrinth has proven to be another successful artistic venture with their acid-tinge dance-pop. For their latest remix pack, they employ the French maestro, Dombresky, to instill the heaters and transform “No New Friends” into a fiery, sweat-drenched house tune. Another masterful track by Dombresky.

Sofi Tukker – Fantasy (Nora En Pure Remix)

Nora En Pure entrances with her own fantasy on Sofi Tukker’s latest remix of “Fantasy”. The South African legend strikes all the right chords and creates an ethereal experience for listeners transporting them on a journey through Avatar’s Pandora.

Stanton Warriors Ft. Sian Evans – Up2U (Rene Lavice Jungle Remix)

Rene Lavice provides a cosmic, spiritual ride through his jungle and DnB remix of Stanton Warriors’ “Up2U”. Sian Evans’ soulful vocals flourish among Rene’s dirty beats. The remix is in lead up to Stanton Warriors upcoming album, Rise, out May 31st, thus ending their four-year absence. The excitement is definitely boiling.

Klingande Ft. Jamie N Commons – By The River (Tuff London Remix)

Tuff London has created the dopest remix of a Klingande track to ever grace the Earth. The British duo mystified with a raw and tribal remix of “By The River”. I won’t spoil anymore of the fun. It’s amazing. GO LISTEN.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

Karl X Johan – Get It All (Bam Spacey Remix)

Deep from the depths of my vault I found a downtempo gem. Bam Spacey provide the remix of “Get It All” by Karl X Johan. Both artists lay relatively dormant and it doesn’t appear that either have new music on the horizon. It’s a shame because this remix is a beautiful, melancholy-inspired downtempo track and I only wonder what other musical offerings Bam Spacey and Karl X Johan could conjure.

Remix Radar 003: Featuring Odesza, Paul Woolford, and Mihalis Safras

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I proudly bring you Remix Radar 003. Last week was a smorgasbord of remix offerings from all-star producer/DJs with the likes of Diplo and A-Trak serving up massive tunes. This week I am dubbing it the ‘Rise of the Unknowns’. Only a couple artists contained within have touring artist status. In other words, the artists featured are still growing and haven’t hit their peaks. Hopefully, this Remix Radar shines a light on a new artist for you to stan. Without further ado, Remix Radar 003.

Hot Chip – Hungry Child (Paul Woolford Sunrise mix)

‘Hungry Child’ is Hot Chip’s latest offering—a dance tune radiating the playful euphoria for which these indie darlings are known. And now, they’ve presented a bold yet controlled rework of the track from the deft touch of living legend Paul Woolford. The result is a prime cut of minimal piano house that’s sure to nourish the soul on a summer night.

Claptone ft. TENDER – Stay the Night (Mihalis Safras Remix)

Claptone employs Greek, tech-house aficionado, Mihalis Safras, to provide a sizzling remix for the fifth and final part of the ‘Fantast’ Remixes. The award-winning producer flips ‘Stay The Night’ into a playful, yet roaring track full of gooey vibes that we’ve come to expect from Mihalis. This a perfect track to awake a party.

If you haven’t already, give the entire ‘Fantast’ Remix Pack a listen. There are quite a few gems.

Yotto – Hyperfall (Remixed)

I am already breaking the rather arbitrary rules I set at the start (sorry!) and I am including the entire remix pack for Yotto’s ‘Hyperfall’. It was too hard to pick a single remix to include in this week’s Remix Radar because each and every remix offers something new, refreshing, and exciting to Yotto’s discography, as well as, dance music as a whole. Shout out to Anja Schneider, Kevin de Vries, Monkey Safari, Cholé, Ruede Hagelstein, and SØNIN for creating an exquisite remix pack.

Example – All Night (Sam Bird Remix)

Sam Bird, a newcomer to the scene, serves up a sizzling remix of Example’s ‘All Night’. The burgeoning producer keeps the relative house, shoe-gazing vibe from the original, but adds spicy bass oscillations to raise the overall energy. Sam’s remix feels designed for a dark, grimy club devoid of neon and lasers.

Flux Pavilion Ft. Layna- Symphony (GLD Remix)

It takes pure, unfiltered talent to provide a stellar facelift to a legend of the game’s work. Fairly new to the scene, GLD, does just that and provides a glistening dubstep remix of Flux Pavilion’s ‘Symphony’ featuring Layna. The duo rework ‘Symphony’ with riot-inducing womps and screeching guitar chords that add a new layer of energy. This remix is destined to appear in many bass and dubstep DJ sets.

Todd Terry – Bounce To the Beat (Steve Lawler’s 3.1 Elements Remix)

Todd Terry did not earn the monicker “Todd The God” by chance. The man is a titan of house music. He is a big reason why we have electronic music as we know it today and he deserves our adoration and respect. This past Friday, “Todd The God” re-released his hit ‘Bounce to the Beat” that includes a remaster of the original plus two Steve Lawler remixes. The whole offering is tantalizing, but in particular, I thoroughly enjoyed Steve Lawler’s 3.1 Elements Remix. Give the whole package a listen. Todd deserves it.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

RAC – We Belong Together ft. Katie Herzig (Odesza Remix)

This week’s Remix Radar has been all about star artists bringing forth relatively unknowns with remixes. In honor of this, I present one of the first remixes done by – now legends – Odesza. EASILY, one of my top 5 played songs of 2015. This song is perfection. It’s as if the synths and delicate percussions is wrapping its web of euphoria around my soul making everything great on a cloudy day. One can see why Odesza are superstars in 2019.

Remix Radar 002: Diplo, A-Trak, Yolanda Be Cool & More

Week 2 of our Remix Radar is here to spice up your Tuesday with some tail-wagging tunes! We had quite a few releases this week from some of dance music’s heavy-hitters. This includes, of course, Diplo’s dipped toe into country music—an “Old Town Road” remix leapfrogging off the original viral sensation and into the front of your weekly playlists. Alongside such monoliths, we’ve also uncovered some hidden gems. There are a few rising acts, as well as a rediscovery from the vault—an early masterpiece from an Australian act who’s making major waves in the industry right now.

Lil Nas X – Old Town Road (Billy Ray Cyrus and Diplo Remix)

Have you noticed that they add a horse to the ‘Old Town Road’ artwork each time a new version is released? We’re up to three horses with Diplo’s drum n bass laden take of the viral hit. It was originally released a week ago in conjunction with Diplo’s closing set at Stagecoach Festival where the superstar DJ was joined on stage by Lil Nas X and Bill Ray Cyrus. Diplo has promised more country-inspired music in addition to this remix and his single with Cam. We are very curious to see what Diplo has up his sleeve.

Axwell – Nobody Else (A-Trak Remix)

The MVP of the decks, A-Trak serves up a delicious take of Axwell’s ‘Nobody Else’. A-Trak infuses the original with funky brass work, shimmering piano chords, and wobbly undertones transforming ‘Nobody Else’ into a soulful house jam. Not the right track for powerlifting, but perfect for sipping Coronas on a yacht.

Purple Disco Machine – Body Funk (Yolanda Be Cool Remix)

Purple Disco Machine has been a revelation to house music with his disco-tronic and funk-dripping tunes. He burst onto the scene with his interpolation of Sylvester’s ‘Do You Wanna Funk’ and Hot Streak’s ‘Body Work’, better known as ‘Body Funk’. It became a massive, massive club hit and was one of the most played tracks of Ibiza’s 2017 summer. He recently re-released the hit with new edits and a star-studded remix pack featuring Carl Cox, Claptone, Dom Dolla, and concluded it with Yolanda Be Cool. The Australians elevate ‘Body Funk’ with a spicy piano melody and a hypnotic vocal chop. Yolanda Be Cool does right by the original.

I also suggest giving a listen to the other remixes. They’re all really cool in their own right.

Felix Cartal ft. Lights – Love Me (Felix Cartal’s Chill Mix)

Felix Cartal teamed up with fellow-Canadian, Lights, unleashing a glittering dance bop onto the world known as, ‘Love Me’. The song has served as a festival anthem being belted out by dance music lovers from South America to Asia and back again. Cartal offers his new take on ‘Love Me’ with his Chill Mix. Cartal peals back his production simplifying the instrumental into a delectable, rhythmic beat and an enchantingly soft piano melody that surrounds a distorted version of Lights’ vocals. The culmination is an impactful bundle of emotion that will invoke “the feels”.

Spada – Hear Me Now (Ferreck Dawn Remix)

Ferreck Dawn has been around the club scene for over 16 years. In that time, He’s served up some juicy club mainstays and made appearances at many of Europe’s top Clubs and festivals including Ministry of Sound, Tomorrowland, and Creamfields. Dawn provides the prelude to Spada’s ‘Hear Me Now’ with a deep house cut that has a dark, yet beautiful sound design with a crooning vocal and an enchanting guitar melody.

Spada has not released the original of ‘Hear Me Now’ and instead is spotlighting his new track via Ferreck Dawn’s remix and soon-to-be released remix by Moscoman (May 10) with the original following. Give Ferreck Dawn’s take a gander in the run-up to the original.

Sigma (feat.Louisa) – here we go again (Just Kiddin edit)

British duo, Just Kiddin, provides a transformative remix of Sigma’s ‘Here We Go Again’. The original is a commercial dance track that is focused around Louisa’s anthemic vocal, perfect for a festival DJ set. ‘Here We Go Again’ goes through a metamorphsis at the hands of Just Kiddin and unleash an energetic, up-beat dance track that is full of uplifting, happy vibes. It’s easy to envision oneself dancing with a special someone as confetti flies and jubilation consumes the dance floor.

Jorn Van Deynhoven – We Can Fly (Cold blue Remix)

Fast-rising Trance producer, Cold Blue, provides an ethereal take on ‘We Can Fly’ by Jorn Van Deynhhoven. Cold Blue weaves a cosmic chord progression that transplants listeners deep in the depths of space, on a journey across the Andromeda Galaxy. The remix is a nice entry into the trance world.

DONT BLINK – GET DOWN (Jamie Roy & Jay de Lys Remix)

Jamie Roy and Jay de Lys team-up to construct an imaginative tech-house remix for DONT BLINK. The newcomers provide a fresh take of ‘Get Down’ utilizing dynamic sound bytes, inventive synth progression, and bass driven funk that gives the remix a quirky, yet delightful vibe. I recommend this to fans of Claud VonStroke and the Dirtybird crew.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

Miss Velvet – Cincinnati Street (PNAU Remix)

Today I bring you an absolute monster of a track from the vault. PNAU has been making quite the name for themselves with highly successful tracks: ‘Changes’, ‘Go Bang’, and ‘Chameleon’. Before these hits, the Australian trio released a remix of, relatively unknown artist, Miss Velvet’s ‘Cincinnati Street’. The remix is very different from what we hear from PNAU currently. It’s more raw and rowdy vs. pretty and upbeat. Even so, there is still a very clear PNAU feel with tribal beats and jungle vibes. I would love to hear PNAU release more raw sounds like this remix.

Remix Radar 001: Jaydon Lewis, Rudimental, Digitalism & More

0

Today marks the first official edition of Remix Radar. We’ll be sharing our favorite remixes of the past week each Tuesday, starting–well–today! It’ll be an eclectic collection of remixes that’ve tickled my fancy over the preceding week, with no restrictions on genre, style, artist, etc. Just dope tunes to start the week.

Please keep in mind that this is merely the first edition—this will serve as a jumping-off point for a continually evolving series. We’ll make minor tweaks for improvement as we go along, in order to provide the best possible experience for the fans. I hope you enjoy this week’s remixes and be sure to leave a comment or shoot us an email with your thoughts or remix recommendations 🙂

Young Bombs – Starry Eyes (Jaydon Lewis Remix)

We have stanned Jaydon Lewis for quite some time. We were happy to discover that Young Bombs added his name to their ‘Starry Eyes’ remix. The 18 year-old serenades the listener with an experimental trap banger featuring a vocal chop and bass oscillation that we’ve only seen from the likes of Skrillex and DJ Snake. The kid has T-A-L-E-N-T. Young Bombs score big points bringing Jaydon on-board their debut remix pack on Astralwerks.

Zara Larsson – Don’t Worry About Me (Rudimental Remix)

Rudimental make a dramatic return to the remix space with their take on Zara Larsson’s ‘Don’t Worry About Me’. The British four-piece rework the track into a hypnotic, funk splashed UK house remix made to shake booties.

I 100% need a Zara Larsson and Rudimental collaboration. They pair better than milk and cookies.

Mixhell & Joe Goddard – Killer Whale (Digitalism Remix)

Digitalism add an impressive remix to their discography with their psychedelic, funkalicious remix of ‘Killer Whale’ by Mixhell and Joe Goddard. The German duo spin ‘Killer Whale’ full of mind-melting goodness, perfect for hypnotizing a pod of Killer Whales. Play this one when you’re with Daft Punk and Justice fanboys.

I also suggest giving Mixhell a listen. Their original work is wonderful.

Jonas Blue ft. Theresa Rex – What I Like About You (M-22 Remix)

Jonas Blue released ‘What I Like About You’ a little over a month ago and has accumulated over 21 million streams (DAMN!). Jonas seemingly can do no wrong and that includes entrusting M-22 with a Remix. The German duo transforms the track into a roaring club mix destined to invoke wavey parties on the dance floor.

Eskei83 ft. Sam King – Make The Record Skip (WiDE AWAKE Remix)

Trap and Bass aficionados, WiDE AWAKE, make an incendiary splash on Eskei83’s remix pack for ‘Make The Record Skip’. Save this record for when you need to get hyped up or when you need to be wide awake as the duo’s monicker implies.

ONE FROM THE VAULT

Full Crate x Mar – Nobody Else (Sebastian Carter Remix)

Today’s remix from the vault comes from Swiss producer, Sebastian Carter. The relatively obscure producer creates a deep and sultry vibe from Full Crate and Mar’s deep house bop, ‘Nobody Else’. It’s a delectable beat for late night snacking.

Sapphire Adizes’ New Remix Tugs At The Heartstrings Of All Who Listen

0

Californian producer and singer-songwriter Sapphire Adizes’ striking new remix of Donna Missal’s single “Keep Lying” is a standout track that elevates the heart rate. Missal’s hard hitting and at times roaring vocals combined with the symphonic and experimental textures that Sapphire brings to the mix renders this track an ominous and powerful creation, that tugs at the heartstrings of all who listen.

“This remix is the sound of the argument I lost with the girl I lost. I was frustrated, not with her but with the way we were failing.” – Sapphire Adizes on the inspiration behind the track.

From writing his first sonata at five years old, to joining The Chainsmokers in the studio and working with Berhana to produce and co-write an EP with now over sixty million streams on Spotify at just twenty years of age, Sapphire is no stranger to success. In this latest work, we see him  capture the vulnerability of Missal’s original song and take it’s emotional impact to a new level, through vicious synth stabs, frantic risers and an earsplitting, driving synth bass.

“I was trying to remix this song and my frustration manifested in the distortion of the bass, and I played that bass back to myself louder and louder, it was the sound of all the words I couldn’t find, and I was too angry to do anything but make it louder.”

Sapphire’s talent comes close to unfathomable, and this new remix is all things aggressive, sophisticated and downright exhilarating.

0

Earlier this year Zedd dropped his masterfully produced single “Happy Now” featuring Elly Duhé, the pop leaning production has since amassed just shy of a hundred million streams on Spotify and has hit the radio waves worldwide.

The Dutch producer has hit it big this year including recent releases ‘Unbreakable Hearts’ and ‘Devil In Disguise’ on Protocol and following up his 2017 hit on Spinnin Records ‘Blow’ which itself now boasts just under 10 million streams. We’re glad to finally get to test a studio version of this epic remix, so hit play below and keep an eye out for whats to come from this rising talent.
